All this site is, is a bunch of curious people asking other curious people. Most things said on any discussion are false. Seriously if you have a question about someone, ask that person directly. If your curious about how the weather will be, ask a damn weather man. If it is political, ask the mayor or someone at the court house. People are stating they know the facts about things and people when in reality, they are making these false statements up to start conversations im guessing because they have nothing better to do with their lives. But it really is getting out of hand when my 14 year old daughter says she wants to move out of state bc of how people talk on topix.

Two questions...why the hell is your 14 year old ever allowed to read or post on Topix when all the topics are adult- oriented discussions? Question number two...why in the hell would a 14 year old kid WANT to get on Topix and read the crap adults discuss?

Well first not knowing until told, my 19 year old nephew left it up on the screen before he left and my daughter asked to play games i thought she was playing games with all the animated sounds until she gets off and tells me she wanted to move.

There is certainly a lot of crap on here. Out of curiosity, what did she read exactly?

This is a good opportunity for your daughter to see that the culture around her is devolving intoa dysfunctional ignorant mess which panders to the lowest common denominator.

Our once-Christian culture has morphed into an if-it-feels-good-do-it, amoral cesspool of raw unbridled human nature at it's worst.

This is an opportunity toi see how the people all around her think. It is everywhere; All over the country and the world. It is a perfect example of what not to be, and is a good warning of what attitudes and actions to avoid in life.

This is education.

Be happy that your daughter has the sense to be repulsed by what she sees- rather than wanting to be a part of it or thinking that it is the norm. She sounds like a sensible young lady. Seeing the garbage here, and knowing that these are the people she will see in her community, on the street, will teach her what life and people are really like.

As long as she's saying "Ewwww!" instead of "cool", you're in good shape.

What she's seeing is humanity as it has always been. You think it's bad today? Read your history books. The internet and globalization has brought this world to its most relatively peaceful state in human history. You're probably one of those people who say "Well let me tell ya, in my day things were diff'ert. In my day, everyday was all sunshiney and flowers, and we danced and ate cookies all day!"

Maybe according to revisionist history. In the real world.....

Just one for-instance:

Today, c. 60% of children are born out of wedlock, meaning that they will never know the security and stability of a permanent two-parent home. Only 60 years ago, only c.6% of children were born out of wedlock, and most of those were to blacks.

50 years ago, teachers complained about kids talking out of turn; chewing gum and smoking. Today, the problems are rape, drugs, assault, robbery and even murder.

Yeah, nothing has changed, right....

20 years ago, peoiple around here left their doors unlocked at night and the keys in the ignition of their cars. Try that today.

100 years ago, there was no welfare or social services, but private people out of the goodness of their hearts started orphanages and hospitals and soup kitchens, funded entirely by willing donors. Today our money is taken at gun point for such things by our elected officials.

For someone named Truth, you sure possess a lot of error.

If you're so concerned with your kid getting on Topix, block the website with Parental Control Software, or actually SUPERVISE YOUR KID! And by the way, if it's so bad WHY DO YOU COME HERE?? Go smack your head with a hammer then try to sue the hammer company - sheesh. You show the very ignorance you come here to rail about!

People SHUT THE HELL UP! You take things out of hand, topic is an irrevelant website.. If your curious about something go to tevperaon an ask instead of putting fake names on here and talking crap about them. Low lives.. Half the crap you ask is none of our business.. Raise your kids.. Go to college.. Clean your house.. Instead you wanna get on here and down people. But yet, your life is perfect.. You do know wrong and raise your kids perfectly.. I'd rather my kids see a website then sit and drink in front of them, or cuss, or smoke pot, or do the crap half of you do. I agree topix is a website full of idiots with no life.

Your last sentence; we are not all idiots with no life. I agree a majority of the threads are not fit to read, and I stay away from those. I agree there are some on here who seem to not be aware of many things going on politically. We all have opinions. Some make more sense than others. Thank goodness we only have 99 days left until November election.

Sounds like a parenting problem. Blame your nephew for being irresponsible and blame yourself for not participating more closely in your 14 year olds life. What if your nephew had been on a porn site and walked off and left YOUR computer on that site...would you be on here bitching because your 14 year old kid made the responsible decision to stay on that site and watch a few things? Everybody else is always to blame. Is your last name Obamoron? lol Whaaaa blame everybody else and play the part of the victim.

You wanna go back to the dark ages or the French Revolution or the time of Christ when the public and government could kill you just because they didn't like you? How about all those hedonistic kings who created elaborate tourture devices to kill peasants at will and watch them suffer? You know, where kings would marry multiple wives, have kids with all of them, and behead their wives when they're "through with them"?

How about World War I, where basically the whole world hated each other for no apparent reason? How about the American Revolution, where the British basically fought amongst themselves and split in two because there was no direct communication? You want to go back to the time before vaccines or pasteurization? How about the time of slavery?

Need I go on? People like you truly amaze me at your stupidity. You have an incredibly limited view of the world and world history. We now live in a world where you still find some those things I mentioned in places, but because of globalization and the internet, it is far less widespread, because communication is instantaneous.

Hmmmm let's talk about that. King Obama sent Drones into Libya (which was in total violation of our Constitution by the way) and he claimed he did that for humanitarian reasons as a few hundred people had been killed in Libya. Proceed forward to Syria. Thousand are being killed and tortured and Obama has yet to even mention "humanitarian" in the same sentence as Syria. How do you explain that? Oh wait, you already did when you explained that the government can pick and choose who they wish to be killed because they just don't like you because you disagree with them. King Obama tiptoed around the laws of our land to aid the Muslim Brotherhood in Libya but refuses to even acknowledge that Syria has thousands murdered every day. How humanitarian is that, truth? So what do you mean by "go back to"? We are still there thanks to your messiah.

Daily Horoscope for June 19

Sagittarius

Don't be surprised if a member of the family is unpredictable or does things on the spur of the moment today. There's nothing to worry about because they won't do anything too alarming or disruptive. In fact, their actions will be like a breath of fresh air and they may even help you to escape from a current rut. So don't hesitate to be that little bit different yourself, either.
