<quoted text>Fetal alcohol mimicks a lot of those diagnoses
Did not say or mean to imply that every child diagnosed with ADD or ADHD had a parent that drank. Many kids diagnosed with it r actually fetal alcohol effect in some degree. Not all will have retardation but all fetal alcohol kids have brain dysfunction. Not the same!
I tend to lean towards a study that says it may be a chemical imbalance in the brain.
Hyper activity and trouble concentrating and staying focused is something I do not contribute to AFS.

I seen cat scans of infants brains affected by AFS and it is sad and shocking to say that the parts of the brain not affected looked like puzzle pieces and the spots where the brain should have been were blank spots.

It could be related but I did not read that among a list of abnormalities that ASF could cause.

But all in all scientists themselves are not sure what causes it. Kind of how there is not a cure for cancer or diabetes. No one is sure, there is only assumptions.

I know a child who the parents say has ADHD. The child acts just like the Mother who has no self control. She flies into rages, curses and screams in front of her kids. She acts like an Idiot!!! So the child acts just like the mother, she thinks this is the way she is suppose to act, she doesn't know any different. So what is the is the mother's problem?
Mama seems unaware that SHE is causing the child to act this way.I bet she wont take the blame for it though.Treat the mama for ADHD and the child will be fine.I bet that everybody thinks shes the problem but nobody will tell her.

All these little idgiots with "ADHD" just need their azzes beat once in a while. Won't be jumping up and acting like a clown on meth if they knew that they were gonna get whipped for it. It is the parents fault, they tell the little brats to act up 1)to get a check or 2)to resell the stimulent medication they receive.

We could cure children of this so-called behavioral disorder by doing two things -- making the children healthy and making education a lot more interesting. These children do not have attention deficit problems. You set those young boys down in front of a Wii or an X-box or a Playstation and they can pay attention for about 12 hours straight. They do not even pee or eat.
They sit there in front of that machine on that TV and they can focus and master a game. You go out and find a game called "Guitar Hero," put a 13-year-old boy in front of that game and you got the whole weekend done. Their whole weekend is focused on that one game and that child will master that game with hand/eye coordination.

That child will be a genius in that game by the end of the weekend. He goes back to school on Monday bored out of his mind. Why? Education is pretty darn boring the way it is done today in most schools. I know there are exceptions and my hat is off to those teachers who make learning fun. I had a few of those in my educational experience, but largely most of them were boring as heck.

History is reduced to just a series of names and dates to memorize and regurgitate onto paper so that you can be called smart and to say that you know history because you have memorized a bunch of stuff. Are you kidding me? That is not an education, and that is not interesting. No wonder these children cannot pay attention.

Education needs to be experiential. These children learn in a multitude of ways. It is not just auditory through a lecture or it is not just visual through a book. These children need to learn hands-on. They need to learn in a 3D space. They need to be able to move their bodies as they learn.

That is why "Guitar Hero" works, friends -- because they are moving. They are jamming out on these video game guitars -- the mind/body connection is solid. They are focused. They are learning. They master that game. We need to make public education more fun like that. I mean let's face it.
This is really about the Ritalin game, this is about making students easier for teachers to handle. It is about society not being willing to handle the energy of young children and instead of letting these children express that creative energy in a variety of ways and giving them a useful outlet for that energy, they want to turn our children into zombies.

look into this pretty interesting

This is so true! Kids will be kids and they come with LOTS of energy. All the schools want to do is evaluate a child and tell you what to do. NOT THIS MOMMA! I will not put my child/children on ANY MIND CONTROLlING DRUG! This has been studied and what they are giving these children is no different than the METH they are trying to get off the streets....so why would you put your child through something like this??? Schools need to understand that every child is different and they need to learn to adapt to their needs instead of throwing in the towel and telling the parent that "your child needs to see the DR" It is very heart breaking to think of how many children, these schools have requested them to take this kind of medication. Maybe the faculty needs to take some see how they might act. The kids might have a better day themselves.

adhd is bullshit the best thing to cure adhd is a good old fashioned ass whooping and some discipline which 90% of kids today do not get!!

Well in the Barren Co. District they do not have corporal punishment. Years ago kids knew better than to act up in school due to facing their parents when they got home. What and who lets them (schools/faculty) get away with this crap of requesting children take these DRUGS when they are teaching our children to be DRUG FREE! I guess it is not meant for me to understand, just felt the need to express my opinion. If your child is on medicine for ADHD and you are convinced that it worked for them.....read about it. NO DIFFERENT THAN THE STREET DRUGS WE NEED TO KEEP OFF THE STREETS!

I am totally offended by some of these comments!!! I have a son with ADHD. He is a very smart child just can't stay on task without his medication!!! It is a proven fact that most ADHD children are very smart children! They have 1,000 things running through their minds and can't concentrate on just one thing! The medication helps them stay on task. It's not the parents' fault, nor do they need to be whipped, and they sure don't need to be put in a burlaP sack with rocks and thrown into a lake. Whipping a child with ADHD would be like whipping someone for sneezing or passing gas! They can't help they are hyper! My son does not get a check and I do not sell his meds!!!! May God forgive all the ignorant people who have made ugly comments on here about the children with ADHD!!!!!!!!!!

It it a epidemic because of vaccinations. Children are becoming mentally handicapped because of the heavy metals in the vaccines.
1. The current U.S. immunization schedule calls for children to get 48 doses of 14 vaccines by the time they’re just 6 years old.
2. When you are injected with a vaccine, the aluminum compounds it contains travel to your brain and accumulate there.
3. According to Dr. Russell Blaylock, multiple vaccines given close together over-stimulate your brain's immune system and destroys brain cells.
4. One vaccine injected into a 13-pound, 2-month-old infant is equivalent to 10 doses of the same in a 130-pound adult.

Check of the facts if you're interested, or don't if you trust the FDA, WHO, and your doctor more...But, I don't!
Not really. The metals that are in some of the vaccines are safe amounts. We ingest far more metals including ones that are not found in vaccines like mercury, cadmium and arsenic from our water and food sources because we utilize technology that produces such toxins. If you people think vaccines are the reason people are having health problems you are wrong. It's pollution.

ADHD is a mental disorder and the causes aren't always known. It's similar to the disorders children who are abused or neglected have. It is real. The problem is whether or not professionals can distinguish between normal hyperactivity and ADHD. I've known a few people with ADHD as children and they ended up with bipolar disorder as an adult. But I know one person who never had ADHD as a child but developed it in adulthood. They are very intelligent, hold a Ph.D in psychology and have to take prescribed medicines that speed them up as their ADHD has a reverse effect. Instead of making them hyper they are too distracted by things to where they stop what they are doing and become engaged in another activity for a long time.

Daily Horoscope for May 21

Pisces

It's a great day for fixing anything that needs attention now. That might be a dripping tap, a sick child, an unpaid bill or a miffed partner. However, you'll do particularly well if you need to sort out something connected with official or joint finances or red tape. You might be asked to help someone deal with a bureaucratic problem, especially if they're elderly.
