Do you think 12 is too young for eye makeup?

Depends on the girl and how much makeup? If your talking the full face, everyday to school, I would think 16? Some makeup at 12, a little more at 14, and at 16 the full face for special occasions.
But as far as skin care, I think 8 or 12 is good, using sunscreen is always good and having a clean clear complexion is always good. In Japan they teach girl babies to sleep on their backs, a habit they keep most of their lives, so they don't wrinkle their faces! |

I couldn't wear until I was 16...and most of my friends were wearing when we were 13.
I think 13 is fine looking back at it. My biggest thing was not really understanding how to clean my face well afterwards, so I wound up with frequent breakups. My face is also sensitive to most make ups which neither me nor my mom realized. It wasn't until I got older and buying my own stuff that I learned that. So just watch for that! |

I was 13 before I started wearing makeup. My grandmother raised me, she allowed me light colors at 13 and as I got older I was allowed to wear more.

I started wearing make-up when I was around 14. My mom took me to Merle Norman and they did that whole "facial" thing where they use different colors on you and try to find what shades look good. They also waxed my eyebrows, which, while painful, was awesome in the long run.

why not try the clear mascarra. Lets her practice for the real thing without being all done up. 12 yrs old is old enough for light make-up. I was around her age when i started wearing make-up. I do agree with the other blogs start the skin care early.

I know this was 25 years ago, but I wasn't allowed to wear make-up until I was in 9th grade, period. I started letting my daughter wear a little make-up (mascara and light tone eyeshadows) in the 8th grade. As for blush and the rest? Next year when she starts 10th grade.

actually they do sell clear mascara. I had to use it when I was in highschool for color guard...
I got mine at walmart. but not sure on the brand, that was 5 years ago. |

You can get mascara with a little glitter in it too if they are on to the clear mascara bit...I had some with orange sparkles...you really couldn't see them unless you got close...but i felt cool.

1 You and me both! There isn't a rerun that's aired that I haven't already seen at least twice. The Golden Girls is one of the best sitcoms EVER, imo. |

I like to use it for days when I'm going "light" on the make-up. It gives your eyelashes a very subtle "thicker" look. I think the brand I have is maybelline or something. But like everyone else has said, you can find it at Wal-Mart. Ya just have to look. |

age 16 was when i started wearing it but had to keep it toned down not to dark
