Man critical in shooting during Hilltop melee

The violence keeps getting worse on the west side. I grew up on the west side. I am to the point I no longer want to live in Columbus.
My husband and i just moved from a complex that from January until August had parties all night long and during the parties - there was shooting going on. The managers of the complex did nothing and the police would show up 3 hours after the calls began.
By then the people had picked up the casings and went to bed.

We need tougher penalties for this kind of thing.
They even fired off shots as kids were going to school one morning during the spring.
LUCKILY a child was not shot.

This is getting way too crazy.

I am all for people LEGALLY owning guns.
But the people who illegally have them and shoot them and hurt and kill people NEED to get stiffer penalties.

It's the wild wild ghetto .. there (Hilltop) and many other places in and around Columbus!

Welcome to the wild wild west, where crack & it's symptoms are rampid. This neighborhood is riddled with ignorance & when you retaliate, they knock out your house windows or worse! The police "can't do anything" unless they see it, it doesn't matter if you saw it with your own two eyes.

How bout we stop giving these hillbillies free SSI and welfare money? That will at least slow the flow of crack funding.

I've lived on S. Warren for almost 7 years now and I to have seen with my own two eyes of how bad the violence is getting.What is it going to take to stop all this, I bet if an officer {and i pray to god this doesn't happen} was to get shot or seriously injured then maybe just maybe something might be done about it. My husband and I have raised our 4 children on the hilltop,and I'm proud to have did so but violence like this is the reason i'm moving off the hilltop I can't deal with it anymore.

Certain parts of the Hilltop, the Bottoms ,are just full of hateful, ignorant people who do not know how to behave for many reasons. The poverty, lack of love and respect for self, leads to what occured.

Ghetto.....and btw its not the police to blame.....its the BAD PARENTS to blame!!!! yes im talking about you the 37yr old mom "WITH NO JOB" reading this at the library while your 14yr old should be in school, who by the way isnt!!....GROW UP PARENTS!!!!

It is the education, people I went to school with, my generation (40-50). Out of my old "friends" most of them are still living with parents or are just getting by and 99.9% are ignorant drunks, I left state (Ohio) to pursue other means of making a living out there(in the real world) and I was granted a free pass to life. Meaning I went out and worked for it. This newest adult generation could care less about taking care of their needs. A select few are in college but most of them are living the party life. SO talk about the West Side and The South End or North or East and then go back to not caring but remember on the Fourth of July, fly your flags and pretend you care again.

I find it total bs anyone wants to talk about hilltop people how are u going 2 judge anyone for one im a very well educated person with a great job and love the hilltop. My prayers are with Ronnie and his family. Ronnie stay strong you are a great kid who would be there if anyone needs them..

Are you kidding me? Officers put their lives on the line EVERY night to protect you and your family. How dare you turn this into a "police aren't doing their job" OR "bet if it was an officer" issue. I pray every night that my husband and his partner are safe while patrolling that very area.

Everyone can say whatever they want, you are all ignorent. The bottom line is this, I knew Ronnie Biegler, and yes he may not of been the most church going honest person I knew but he was not a bad guy. He ran his mouth just like 90% of the people who live on the Hilltop. I used to date part of his family. I will tell you right now, no one deserves this at all. Imagine the family having to deal with this now everyday of their lives, if Ronnie lives through this he will never be the same. it is a pure SHAME. 21 years old with nothing left in his life to look forward to. You hang with trouble you get trouble, I have always told him that. Gun's, gangs, and violence are everywhere people, hate to break it to you. It is the sad sad world we live in. Please pray for the Biegler family, that is what is needed right now.

I think KARMA has a way of catching up with people who wish BAD KARMA on other people all the time.

I lived in that ae for 7 years. I was driving thru right after all of this happened.

It is alot of the same old problem,
Trash talking and being tough.

The real problem is that it is allowed to go on because no one "wants to get involved" and call the police and stand up and testify aginst these people.

There are alot of very good people on the Hilltop, but they 'allow' this kind of behavior to go on around them because they either don't anet to get involved or are afraid to get involved.

Todays youth is all about being "macho" and someone needs to straighten them out.
