I was going to the Gilbert location of Coyotes until they closed. I tried Fitness Works in Chandler but the child center was too crowded as well as the machines. I talked to a manager there who told me I would have to quit through Coyotes even though they are closed. I have tried to do that with no luck because their corporate office machine referes people who want to quit back to Fitness Works. I am getting the run around and wondering if and when I will be able to quit??

to howtoquit:

I have finally got a hold of corporate through e-mail today. They have replied, saying that they require 30 days cancellation notice which they counted from the date of the e-mail. I did e-mail them back saying it's really not my fault that they derived me from the right to quit at any time. The lady was actually very nice, responded quickly saying no problem, we won't bill you then anymore.

P.S. Fitness Works still haven't received any paperwork so you won't be able to cancel through them, neither by phone (they don't pick up)

And by the way, this is the e-mail of the lady who helped me with this: lleos@azcac.com (Lisa Leos). And don't forget that most of you prepaid the last month which isn't refundable, but make sure you get an access to the Fitness Works facilities for that extra month (if needed).

I went to FW this morning and was told that even though I paid for an anual childcare contract at coyotes I would have to pay more b/c they are not going to honor those. I was a little put out.

Also I'm not in CO. I did find out that a new gym is going into the old Williams Field coyotes location. I'm not sure when it's opening though.

From what i heard, the landlord at the pecos/mcqueen location wanted to raise their rent by $20,000 a month. They were paying $70,000 a month and the landlord wanted to raise it to $90,000 a month at the start of the new lease, so the owners decided to close instead. They were barely making the $70,000 a month as it is.
IF that is true, that is either one very stupid landlord to opt for $0/month vs.$70K/month. OR one very dirty and sneaky landlord, forcing the gym out to rent out the space to someone else willing to pay more (only time will tell?).
Either way, I cancelled my membership the friday before their last week, and joined LA Fitness. Not thrilled with LA Fitness because it seems like it's always crowded, compared to the comfortable environment of the CAC on mcqueen. However, they gave me $0 initiation and same monthly dues i was paying at coyotes. It's also a 3 mile commute from home, vs. 14 miles which i was happily driving to coyotes 4-5x/week before.

Yeah, they made me pay the difference in the childcare as well, because "their insurance wouldn't cover the child". Didn't make any sense, especially considering the quality of the daycare at FW.

Anyways, one of the managers of Mountainside told me they anticipate to open on May 9th and they already dropped their price by $10 on-line. Still a little pricey together with the daycare. Did anybody get a chance to get a good deal somehow???

I now workout at LA Fatness on Greenfield and every ex-Coyotes member I see there says that they are still getting charged membership dues.
This is off their website:
"Coyotes Athletic Centers is not owned or operated by the Phoenix Coyotes Hockey Team. We had arranged a marketing agreement with the hockey team allowing us to use their brand name for marketing purposes only."
What a load of crap!!! Our paychecks were signed by Jerry Moyes-owner of The Coyotes Hockey Team

Have been trying to cancel my membership since I found out about Coyote closing--Finess works pool is a play pool. So far, faxes, letters, personally going to Finess Works--to no avail. Still getting threatening letters from Coyote, who, stangely enough, still have enough money for a PO Box and someone writing letters. Have been at LA Fitness, nice pool, good hours,a tiny bit more expensive, but still. Would like to get Coyote and thei "billing" off my back. Luckily, I cancelled their ability to draw from my account, so I suppose that is what irks them. Too bad. Feel like I got gypped for my signup fee, only was there 5 months and they pulled $ out of my account 2 days after they "closed." I think they have had enough $ from me. They have a lot of ----s. Finess Works apparently is quite content to let this charade continue, so they don't get any points from me.
