I just listened to the interview with Mayor Berman and the reporter from Channel 15. The reporter "sandbagged" the Mayor and was entirely and completely unprofessional in the way he conducted it. As the Mayor said, if you have a complaint then file it with the City Attorney or take it up in City Council Chambers. I believe in this country we are still innocent until PROVEN guilty. In that vain, I support Mayor Berman until proven otherwise and will not view Channel 15 until it's proven to me that they are fair and balanced.

I have the opposite opinion of the video. It did not look like an ambush unless you call catching the mayor out in public an ambush. I find the Mayors reaction and constant need to go off camera very telling. I think if the reporter had gone off camera, the Mayor would have run.

Over the years, I have dealt with liars and corruption, and the Mayor reacted like someone who had been caught with his hand in the proverbial cookie jar.

Guilty? Probably....

Thg, you are crazy. There is no way you know Berman personally and believe that. He throws tantrums on a regular basis and treats others in a completely disrespectful manner when he doesn't think anyone is watching. ABC did nothing wrong, this is just one of Berman's usual fits. I have lived in Gilbert for 10 years, and as a Conservative, I am appalled with our mayor's actions. My advice to you is to actually sit through a Town Council meeting and then tell me how much Berman knows about our country.

It appears that corruption and deceit in high places (most notably involving political figures and corporate executives) seems to the way things are in our time. It's all about money, power and control with these kinds of people; any means suits the end and whatever they can get away with is just fine as long as they don't get caught. I know this because I have three lawyers in my family - two civil and one criminal - and they are always defending cases where someone up high has really screwed up royally. Thg, you don't have to be a liberal tree-hugger to read the daily newspapers and get a definite sense that something is horribly wrong with things in our world, not only in this country, but around the globe. A sign of the times? Perhaps. So when I see these people squirm when "cornered" by the media, I too cannot help but get the impression (call it a gut feeling) that they are up to something less than ethical. I've had the feeling before, and the ones in question turned out to be guilty as sin. Who knows what Berman is up to. Behind the closed doors of their chambers, anything can be going on. When an American president can (allegedly) have sex in the Oval Office, nothing surprises me anymore. Yes, we still live by the idea that one is innocent until proven guilty. However, proving some kinds of guilt is difficult and many things can go wrong along the way (i.e., O.J.S.) and those who are truly guilty know this.
Trust in your guts folks... They are the result of millions of years of evolution (or Creation if you are so biased), and will not lead you wrong. They are there to help keep us safe and wary of danger. I sure as hell trust mine!

Just saw the interview of Mayor Berman.... I am from the east coast (Ct.) and I reside here part time . This guys would NOT last one day as Mayor or First Selectman back in my hometown. The young reporter asked fair questions. It's about accountability and Berman wanted no part of it. He was not ambushed as some have written here. If he was the reporter must have tied him down to get a microphone on him. I didn't see that happen. The whole approach was fair, open, and transparent. Berman was anything but. He clearly tried to bully the young man and evaded the questions. People in Gilbert and across this great nation must hold our hired and elected officials accountable. The overrun here is significant. The buck stops at the bosses office. This mayor is in my opinion is the jerk, not the reporter. He should be held accountable for the mis-management of taxpayer funds. And if he can't stand the heat get the hell out. He is an example of gross incompetence. He is a perfect example of why our country has a 9 TRILLION plus dollar debt. He would have been fired if this went down in the private sector. But politicians are used to screwing the people. Berman is an arrogant, ignorant, pompous, ill tempered bully.

Mayor Steve Berman is a strong leader and a great man. For those of you who don't know him, then I urge you to do your ENTIRE home work before you slam him! Don't post an opinion based off of one interview or lacking concrete evidence. I'm not saying you are - but just in case shouldn't you at least look at the possibility that you are wrong before you slam someone's good name into the ground? The Media is one thing. But the public is another. You want to talk about corruption lets start with the media. We are supposed to have the freedom of press right? That's what the public thinks. However, did you know that the media works hand in hand with the law enforcment agencies to both manage and take care of damage control and panic as well as many other unnamed ways that the media assists in law enforcment. What I'm saying is that the media decides what "we the public" hear or knows about someone or something. So if the media makes up their minds about something and conducts an interview to try and pursuade the public to think the same way for whatever their selfish reasons may be, don't you think that in itself is a form of corruption? And I'm not saying that Mayor Berman is innocent. What I am saying is that until a court of law proves otherwise who are we to judge him and find him guilty in the publics eye? Let the man live his life! Let the man deal with those personal issues in his life as wel as those that are political as well. Then let the proper public officials conduct their investigations and let the proper appointed judges do their jobs. Stop trying to do it for them!
