they need to fall to about 1.50 to 2.00 that still isn't cheap but would help out. does anyone think that if gas was 2.00 a gallon would it help the economy?

Ever notice they'll shoot the prices up 60 cents in a day, or an hour, when they want to, even before anything goes wrong, but the downside looks like a feather floating high in the wind, taking forever to come down, even if what they thought would go wrong didn't?

As we used to say in the projects, Bowshee!

Sometimes I think the people who took down the banks, brokerages and stock markets are doing that in their spare time because their day jobs must be in oil.

Gas and oil prices aren't fully controlled by the oil companies, or OPEC. Check the commodities trading in oil futures. If short term profits were taxed double of what they are, it would calm that market a bit.

Finding a reasonably cheap way to get North slope oil to east coast refineries, rather than exporting it might help, but only a little. Getting North Slope Natural gas to the lower forty eight pipelines would also help.

Exploration and drilling on the east coast shelf would help. Yet the tree huggers don't want those unsightly platforms just a hundred miles off shore, and they might leak.

Returning to the 55 MPH national speed limit would surely help, but be less popular than low gas supplies.

That's right, create a panic. Fear mongering media, that's all you're good for.

I am getting tired of people following the GOP brainwashing of "drill baby drill!" People in the oil markets and economists all agree that even IF we open up all public lands to public drilling it will not have any relation to lower gas prices for 10 or more years! even then there is no proof it will lower due to demand will increase worldwide. I have read the research on off-shore drilling.....Noticed a few figures that was mentioned. That right now oil companies only use 20-30% of CURRENT drilling rights they have off shore in the gulf. As one report stated one oil company has permits to drill on 110 locations in the Gulf on public lands...so far they have used only 14 sites. They have had some of the permits since 1976!!!

best thing to do is use less and find better ways to make energy! The technology is there but the willing to change is not

Native Born.......are you sure its not "born yesterday". Did it ever occur to you that the 110 locations are graded with respect to their oil producing capability. All sites are not viable and would not be adequate producers. I know its a complex concept for you coolaid drinkers to grasp.

drilling for oil will not solve the problem. it will take 10-12 years to see that oil if we start drilling now.

Actually they have choice of over 5,000 drilling sites.. those 200 or so was chosen due to oil deposits and exploration results. So each site they have has the potential to yield oil....
