Not surprising those buffoons are still losing money. If history continues repeating itself they'll raise the price yet again, lose more, up it again, keep losing until it finally goes under. That white elephant never should've been rammed down the public's throats. Live and learn doesn't apply to some folks.

Welcome to the world of history buffs trying to run businesses. These clowns will run the whole area into the ground if they are allowed to dictate everything.

I knew them. They were business people that happened to be history buffs and did something they loved. Lately we have history buffs that think they are experts at running businesses. There is a big difference. Many of the promises made to them were not kept by the new regime and it is plain to see where that is going.

Name some and give specifics of how they are doing that. This article shows an example of the opposite and supplies facts and details. Please do the same or you are just making stuff up to make your argument look valid.

The old visitor center was run much better. This one is based on making more money. There was no cost to go into the old one. Its gift shop was educational, not selling Bobby Lee bobbleheads.
The oil of political correctness has overspread this one, too. I do like what they did to the cyclorama, very good job there. The new building is nice and off Cemetery Hill, but it could have been better used.

Agreed, the old visitor center was much better. The basic exhibits were free, all you had to pay for was the map. Now you have to pay to get in and see the basic exhibits, or anything past the book store.

Although the book store has a nice selection of items, including some very good books, I think the prices are a bit high, and have found some of the same publications at other locations for a much more reasonable price.

They did do a good job on the cyclorama, but why must someone pay to see the movie, and cyclorama every time they want to look at the exhibits?

Noooooo, not in Gettysburg they are, after all, a bunch of know it alls.
Well off to Jim Thorpe for a great day of FUN for St. Patty's day. NOw, if some of the big mouthed locals from Gettysburg took a look at how Jim Thorpe is being run, they might get it. Doubt it, but hope springs eternal

local; The ones runnming it took a proven commodity(battlefield relics)and changed to one they thought would be better(emphasis on political)and now refuse to change,or admit they were wrong about the displays.Repeat visitors would always view the relics, becuase there were so many that you missed some. How many times can you see the movie and view the cyclorama. The design is just for new visitors, and does not take into account repeat visitors which make up a good part of visitation. If they put more relics on display and charged a dollar or two to see the relics, they would see an increase in revenue.

Sounds like they don't know what they're doing and the numbers prove it out. Also sounds like "heritage tourism" is not exactly something to base your entire economy on. I'm sure you would be much better at running the show. You should run for president.

Then it is serving a good cause. Keeping one specific idiot,(you) from trying justifys me getting into this thread. This is likely my last post as I have seen others kick the crap out of you in a debate but you are too stupid to realize it. Dopes like you that think you know business and this area are going to be the ruination of the area you claim to hold dear.

Had a WONDERFUl time in Jim Thorpe for the St. Patty's day parade, the place was JAMMED with people. Everyone having a great time, watching the parade, shopping in the shoppes and eating in the great resturants. Now, I realize that you're so witty by telling me that St. Patty's day is coming up. I'm so happy tou think your witty.
Now, seems strange that a small town, that really had nothing going for it, could get it together and make it a real destination. To think they don't even have what Gettysburg has and that's history.
I suppose all those super smart people in Gettysburg aren't that smart after all. They can't even get anyone to their town WITH history.
Ya know Jim Thorpe did all of this WITHOUT a casino too. Makes me think that the locals have NO clue.

You people are drawing me into this more than I intended.

Kind of like houseguests. Some I want some I don't. I read every post on here to keep up on things and although I don't post much I have seen you and Pete post alot and not say much. If I saw either of you two coming up my driveway I'd lock the doors and hide in my bomb shelter.
