Good morning Pink Taco.Deja vu, I avoided the Wegmans for the 1st month it was open - friends and neighbors said it was a mad-house! I have visited frequently since that 1st frantic month and have become somewhat of a fan.
So many interesting foods that are not commonly found in this part of county! One of my guilty pleasures is popping in for a take-out dinner when the children and husband are otherwise occupied.
You are correct, however, it IS wonderful to live in such a beautiful part of the country - as a military wife I've lived in many places and Frederick County is among my favorites - close to "big city night-life" as well as quiet valleys and quaint small towns, like your Gettysburg - which, by the way, is remarkably similar to Germany in it's topography and weather, but I find the "natives" in Gettysburg to be much friendlier than the natives in Germany - contrary to PE's opinion. However, one must also take into account that to be greeted warmly by strangers, it helps to be friendly and open to those same strangers, something I haven't been able to detect in PE's postings.
You are probably correct regarding PinkEye also, but never fear, I've met others such as her and quite frankly, I pity them for their small minds and even smaller intellect and heart. The ignorant among us are, unfortunately, the same all over the world - and quite easily noted and identified as such.
As an aside, PinkEye might be interested to know that crow is eaten - and enjoyed - in many parts of the world, however I doubt that she will ever have the opportunity to enjoy this dish as she does not present herself as one who could and would appreciate world travel and cuisine. Besides, she's too "classy" to eat crow! LOL!
Enjoy your holiday trips to Frederick, while shopping isn't exactly my cup of tea, the decorations and holiday festivities are great fun. I look forward to my next visit to Gettysburg - I've not been there during the holidays but perhaps this year I can rectify that.
Thanks for the polite conversation, quite a departure from the usual Topix exchange!
Blessings on your house.
First please allow me to thank you and your husband for your service to this fine country. I know we often think of the one in uniform, but it is those who stay at home and take care of business and worry while their loved ones are off doing their duty. Sometimes I feel that those who remain at home have a much more difficult time than the one in the service.
I do so love the cheese selections at Wegmans. I have found so many that I like, and that we do not normally find in our local markets.
May I suggest you look for Adams County Water Cooler. If you do a google search for that, you will see it listed as Forum-Home. There is a section there on special events that are happening in and around Adams County. You may find some things that are of interest to you or your family. May I offer the suggestion that you try to get to the Eisenhower Farm during the holiday season. They decorate the farm as the President and his family did. And the farm in general is very interesting. Although I have lived here most of my life, I still try to get there every five or ten years.
And fortunately or unfortunately my trips to Frederick are business, or work trips rather than shopping trips. But when I have my shopping list, I will either leave early, or shop when work is over.
Best to you and all of yours, and do enjoy the holidays.
