This man invested a great deal of time, money and energy to forward his casino endeavor. He just feels that he got a raw deal and wants to see justice served. Yes, there are those folks who really do have a hard time accepting the word "NO" as the final answer. Guess it'll just run it's course, this appeal. Gettysburg townsfolk are back to their normal lives, am sure they are not concerned about this outcome. I may be wrong, there may be a few hopefuls. ROCK ON!

ROCK ON! All to well I remember the bickering on the casino issue. I do understand why he is continuing his fight. Its zoned for it, there is a building there etc. and he did invest alot of money in it. In his mind'd eye he doesn't see a problem with it. Had it been built or placed somewhere else, I don't think alot of others' would either. I know first hand how the unjust the system really is. So in that respect I could understand him feeling like he got a raw deal. Hopefully, the people of Gettysburg are enjoying these last few days of summer, and anticipating the arrival of Fall, living out their normal lives.

So Pink Eye, if let's say the appeal went through and he was awarded the casino license; would we see outrage from the No casino side again? He did invest alot of everything into this project and is a local businessman also. Well yeah, Pennsylvania is beautiful in the autumn months, I love it. Festivals honoring the apple orchards, pumpkin patches and homespun goodness are a hippie's delite.(had to throw that in). ROCK ON GETTYSBURG!!

I am guessing ( and its purely a guess) that he wouldn't be awarded the license if he were rejected before. I would assume ( although we all know what they say about assuming) that unless he has some new information that he was wrongly denied the license ( again), the decision will stand. He may have invested alot into the project, but that was by his choice and his gamble, he lost. So if there are only so many licenses available, and all have been awarded, who would they take an already awarded licenses from to appease this local business man? WOuldn't you think there would be a huge court battle over that? As far as the question of the no casino crowd fighting the good fight again, I venture to say they would fight it again. ALthough he's been rejected twice for the Gettysburg area, I think now it his personal arrogance that would fuel his fight. I love autumn too. The pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple cider and all the haunted houses are the best. The best scare around is by far the attraction at Eastern State.:o)

Like you said, they are not going to take away an awarded license, to please a contender. That would be a major court room scene fer sure, a headache the gaming board does not need. Autumn is my favorite time of the year, love apple cider also, has to be made in Pa. tho, the best. I am not familiar with Eastern State, is that a college? ROCK ON!

It had been a penitentiary in Philadelphia that was open from 1829 to 1971. They offer tours and do a terror behind the walls Halloween attraction. I've never been to the Halloween attraction as I've heard that crowds are huge. Its been featured on several ghost shows one being Ghost Hunters, who did capture some very strange footage. If you'd like to see it, I believe its on Youtube. It looks like a cloaked figure running away from the camera.

There is little chance that the Commission will change their decision. However, the fact that there is still interest in spending capital to build new facilities during a time when construction is all but non existant, State and local Governments need funds, and new jobs is the main topic of discussion country wide could convince the PA legislature to Amend the Law to increase the number of licenses. It would then not surprise me if prior applicants were then reconsidered for licenses.

Do we need a casino at Antietam and Pearl Harbor? Maybe nothing is sacred and we should start casino construction to create jobs? I doubt the court will embarrass the people of Pennsylvania and the nation by approving this travesty.

Sacred versus job creation, WOW! let's balance this out, attendance at record lows for national state parks. WHY? Those who are retired are trying to make ends meet now, can they afford the luxury of a vacation? Places with historical value are for the those who have an interest. Think the 20's something really care about these relics? Nah, they want lights, camera action, they want to try and win the big one and travel the adventure route. Think again, jobs are needed, casino employment consist of security guards, waiters, valets, food service, game clerks, etc....what kind of employment do these treasured parks offer? Sure the local businesses can feed like scavengers from their main source of income, that being the attraction itself. Jobs are needed, where they are created means one less homeless individual on the street. ROCK ON!

Those are all low paying jobs that will just feed the scum of Adams County. Let them continue to collect their welfare checks. They are all to lazy to work anyway. We dont care about "those" people.

We dont care about "those" people. You've got a point, sort of. Most of the jobs offered in a casino will be on the lower end of the pay scale. Although, a crap job is better then no job it certainly wouldn't be a job one could retire from. Adams county didn't get a casino, now let them put their heads together and think of another business, industry etc. that would be a better fit and an asset to the community.

Morning Pink Eye, In regards to your job creation project for Gettysburg, it would have to be in good taste. The townsfolk are living in the present with all their daily ups and downs. Whereas, the town itself is themed with colonial style. You do not want a business that will mock the battlefield in anyway. These Civil War men were just men, they loved, they believed in their beliefs and they fought and died. Am sure they would not oppose say a water park, a Wal-mart, a Lowe's business. As long as it creates jobs for local folks to have peace in their lives. Their heartaches have ended and now they are resting peacefully, do you not think they would want the same for their descendants?

NO WATER PARK, NO LOWES, NO SHOPPING CENTERS PERIOD. Susan's vision includes quaint little shops offering only historically related articles, the shopping choices there now will be eliminated eventually (its all part of the plan). If others want that junk made in China or to shop they can go elsewhere and do it.

It is truly like a merry-go-round in Gettysburg, your amusement is non stop. The Civil War National Battlefield Park, owned and operated by the Federal Government. The Federal Government owned and operated by American taxpaying citizens. Gettysburg townsfolk owning homes, this paying taxes to operate the government which protects the battlefield. My point being, all National parks belong to the citizens of America. So, why is one person, this Susan spokesperson having the last word on what is best for Gettysburg? Ya'll live, breathe and work there and are contributing to the welfare of the town government and the Federal government. When are you, a citizen of Gettysburg and the USA have your say on what businesses should be allowed or not? Ahhhh, got the brass ring...wish I could say the same for you. ROCK ON!

Personally, I liked the idea of an indoor water park. Not only could it and would it bring vistors in year round. But in doing so would spur other businesses to move in around it. Take for instance, Cabela's in Hamburg off of 78. Prior to the bsuiness moving in there was an on/off ramp and nothing else. Except for 61 heading north into the coal regions. Now, along with Cabela's there's Burger King, Cracker Barrel, a higher end jewelry store, Lowes has recently moved in along with other resturants, motels etc. OK, maybe not higher scale paying jobs, but jobs just the same. The same could be applied to an indoor water park in Gettysburg. Build it, and they will come, vistors will stay, and spend money. It would be more of a family friendly type of business and not just catering to adults. I'd think a indoor water park would be a huge draw during Jan. and Feb when there isn't much going on anyway. Local businesses could take advantage of this new influx of vistors and capitalize on that. Offering discounts on merchandise/food and lodging. I never thought G'burg was a good match with a casino. I can understand Susan wanting to keep it a quiant little town with a certain feel to it. BUt, if built properly a indoor waterpark could compliment the area not detract from it.

I always like the idea of the indoor water park, it would be used year round. Unlike the ski resort, which is used primarily in the winter. It, like you said will bring upper scale businesses to set up shop. Businesses that local townsfolk need in their everyday living lifestyle. The casino did not float my boat, but as I said before, it would have at least added jobs. Gettysburg is a quaint colonial town, nice cozy feel to it. But, you all are living in the present, time to have fun and sales revenues will increase, placing a lesser burden on the taxpayers. Hopefully, this will be placed on the table and planned out. You cannot relive the past, the future is knocking at your door wanting in. You're on the life raft, would you rather drown or wave to the cruise ship passing by. I'd take the latter, good eats! ROCK ON!

No, no, no, no waterparks. The only attractions around this part should be historical in nature and somberly teach about our sacred past. This is what you get when those people (renters, welfare recipients, etc) are allowed to vote.
