What a shame! No dirt bags on loud obnoxius motorcycles with illegal exhaust! No great loss! Go somewhere else and stay there! Hopefully far away! Sturgis sounds good!

Good. These bikes reving up is inapparopriate for a family friendly place like Gettysburg anyway. It is also no way to show respect for the dead which is really what this town is all about anyway. Let's have a horse parade instead of a bike parade!

I think the above comments speak to the stupidity of the locals. I wonder what the business owners will say when the bikers choose not to stay at the hotels, eat at the restaurants for buy from the businesses. All the preservationist better start to ante up because all the business is being chased away and after the 150th anniversary celebration, there will be very few people coming back to Gettysburg for years to come. It is time that people open up to all types of people and activities. I was very involved with the preparation of some of the sites for bike week with the vendors and except for a few that met at Moose Park (for some unknown reason the lodge allowed them to meet there) the rest of the people were very well behaved as the police reports will back up and they spent a ton of money. I guess the chamber of commerce will gladly see that move to another community.

"respect for the dead"?????????? give me a break. Perhaps all the horses' road apples can be dumped in your front yard if you have one.

I agree Tammy. But you have to remember that many people remember what Council member Swope said at a council meeting one time in the early 70's.

Have the parade, Just start it at Battlefield Harley and go West on 30 Around the square and then back out.. That would work. And for some of you on here, I agree,You think you have complaints now, Wait until after the 150 Celebration. There will be nothing left, You can only sell this Battlefield stuff for so long. Agree that people will be interested, but it will never be like it was when I was 16 ( That's 33 years ago). The people better wake up, You will get the respect for the dead alright, But it won't be what you want. It will be a ghost town when all the store owners realize that after the big celebration, There is not much business left to have a store here. Better yet, Just look around if you are capable of doing so. Look at all the business's that have shut up in the last 5 years. I bet I could name quite a few. Just saying

It never even occurred to me what you are implying from 'fed up's statement. Freudian on your part?

fed up wrote: Whatever people. You'll be the first ones complaining when taxes go up again. not to mention tourism is down again. Oh wait that's right all the high paying jobs that are located inside little Gettysburgs border will keep this place going. Family friendly i think not, even those of us that live here have to pay to park if you want to walk around, get a haircut, or just visit the library. maybe the fine folks on washington and Brekenridge street can help us out and get jobs that they have to pay taxes. You know, Your comment was Good until you throw the racist comment in there. I am a male and unemployed and I live out of town. What does that make me???

This is disappointing to many in the community who looked forward to the Parade of Chrome every year. It is only one event however in all of Bike Week and I doubt too many bikers will change their plans because there will not be a parade THIS YEAR. I think next year the construction will be done and the Parade of Chrome will be back. I still think the bikers will come and frequent the activities at Granite Hill and visit Gettysburg, construction and all.

What about all of the noise from the reinactions? All of the trash these people leave behind. Boy, you Gettysburg people cry about no tourism, taxes going up, businesses closing, and traffic. Exactly what do you want?
