All you morons bringing the casino into this, get over yourselves and knock it off. This article has nothing to do with a casino.

Gettysburg is no place for frivolous things like ice cream parlors. People come to reflect and pay homage not eat ice cream and laugh and have a good time. We need to stop trying to entertain these visitors and just give them more things to reflect on and educate themselves about.

Reynolds, I've got news for you, people LIVE in and around Gettysburg every day and aren't just visitors...and we need food and entertain, not just monuments and history!
I am thrilled Mr. G's is back...no one can compete with HOMEMADE ICE CREAM. They have the best!!!! Does anyone know their summer hours?

Ya know, I see this is going somewhere, like who is saying that a tourist town cannot have the same type of businesses, say in some jerk water town. These some towns have a least one grocer, one ice cream shop, one bakery, one hardware shop, one mom and pop cafe and post office. What makes folks think that townsfolk stay in character, 365 days a year? That they live and breathe the past and not live in the present. Last time I pinched myself in this gold mining camp, I was real. Ya think I am going to eat beef jerky and drink dirty water the live long day? Kudos, for this ice cream shop's re-opening with it's speciality, homemade ice cream. I thought you kids had bakeries there, why not ask them to make bagels also? Talk to your business owners, give them suggestions, you may have earned bagels for a year! ROCK ON!

The actual soldiers who fought at Gettysburg would probably appreciate your sentiments honoring their memory but would likely disagree with your comments pertaining to laughter and eating ice cream. They were every bit as human as you or I and would likely appreciate seeing their descendents enjoying life as they themselves did in their day and age. Honor their memory but please don't lose focus of their humanity. We do tend to equip them with halos and harps and neglect that humanity.

Very well written Historicus, after all these soldiers were flesh and blood also. Not statues made of concrete, cold and heartless. ROCK ON!

Then would should apply that same logic to other venues of entertainment. Who are we then to judge what others find amusing as long as it falls within the law? Thanks for changing my mind about a certain topic.
