Yet I dont see any anti alcohol ads on the tv. They should step up the penalties for parents letting this go on. But I guess a persons live is dont really worth it?? Its only one silly teen. Haha just wait til its your own.

Yeah, I agree. I guess the media's version of anti-alcohol ads are the disclaimers in real tiny print saying "drink responsibly"... |

I for one, and maybe the only one, am glad to see that today's youth is still enjoying the rites of being a teenager. Don't tell me that all you parents out there didn't do what these kids are doing today....at least just once in your own rebelious teenage life. If you can't remember, then you probably did. If you say you didn't, then you're still in denial.

Ah, youth is so wasted on the young.... I don't see as where any more kids are partying now than they were forty years ago. What I do see is a media that spends its resources sensationalizing and promoting their own agendas, and those of special interest groups instead of reporting the news. I am of course not referring to any particlar news organization. Wow, I really had to tone this one down before smackin' that button!

What is wrong with these so-called parents who allow their kids to drink alcohol? I guess they feel that the kids will drink anyway, so it may as well be in-house. Parents don't realize that they are pushing their kids to alcohol abuse.

That's exactly right John. Instead of underage parties, it was underage groups hanging out drinking. The only difference was we didn't drive drunk. We spent the night at the place where the alcohol was served. Now kids scatter from the parties driving drunk because police are called. Everybody acts like the underaged drinking just started in the last 10 years.

Kent were you fired from channel 9? You seem very hostile? Anyway, when I was 15 we partied like crazy, we had a campsite in the back of Churchill in Germantown. We would score beer and other things party til 10 pm and then head home and munch out. None of us were rich and spoiled enough to have a car, they were BMX bicycles. It was the thing to do back in 1985 haha. Now a days there is no parental supervision in other words kids are having kids. I would sneak in and go to sleep but all along mom knew and here I thought I was getting over on her, forgetting she had 8 older brothers who partied so she had knowledge of the symptoms of arriving home after a friday night of a 6 pack of bud...nevermind eating a half gallon of Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, miss those days...anyway back to the point kids will be kids, it is one thing if parents condone it back in my day they didn't it was up to us to find a friend who's parents were out of town and we could party hardy...now a days it is because people who are barely 18 are having kids not knowing how much effort it takes to raise a kid in these modern times. Kids will be kids, but when someone can't walk no one should let them get in a car, beat their a*s if need be, better to have a sore body than be dead in a car accident. I remember being in Glen Burnie back in 1990 we saw this girl outside the bar when we were leaving she was pretty hammered we didn't know her but we laughed as 20 year olds do and the next day she was on the news and her car was wrapped around a tree...very sad rest in peace. I would rather see someone if they are going to allow it in their house make everyone stay there until the next morning that way no one dies. You can't stop the inevitable but you can prevent premature deaths. I will have a cold one when I get home and I won't be behind the wheel...

No Bill, I've never worked for channel 9 or any other "news" organization. From your description of partying when you were younger I'd almost think you were someone I used to party with. Except I'm about 15 years older than you and I lived in the Bethesda boonies back then. The rest of it sounds about the same. Anywhose you're right about my anger. The news media were behind the push to raise the drinking age to 21 many years ago. All that it acheived was to add another three to four years of irresposible/illegal drinking experience to our childrens repertoire. Might as well put 'em all through a four year crime school. BTW, I rarely drink home, and I never drink & drive. |
