Who will run for mayor and commissioners?

Who in the city will step up and run for office?

I just recently found out the former police chief Barry just got asked to leave the Fire Department... and after he threw a fit they had to call the Sheriffs Department to have him escorted out.....ha.. ha.. ha
Maybe everyone will wake up now and realize he and his wife are the biggest problems in this town. There's a reason he got fired from Town Hall.. and evidently the same reason he got let go at the Fire Dept!
I bet you both Barry and Sharon Conaway will both run.. if they get elected god help your town!

I'm going to put myself out here and say that I am very impressed with our current elected officials. They have cleaned up the town more than any other Board has in the past 23 years, and we have a new library that our whole county can be proud of. They have eliminated corruption among the town employees, and have pursued grants to fund projects. They have kept our rates reasonable, kept taxes low, and have done an all-around great job. Unless someone can show me a real reason why I should think otherwise, I think our town needs to stay the course and continue making progress!

I agree. I think Walnut Cove has ssen a lot of progress in the past three years, and as long as the Board members keep working for good things in our Town, I think I wil be casting my vote to keep them there to keep up the good work. I am proud of my little Town, and I am glad to see that we are making progress. THis is more than I can say for years past.

Lets start with the 2008-2009 budget. Call the auditor and see how much the fund balance is and what it should be. Look around town and see houses and buildings with holes in the roofs. Why are they still standing? Because they don't belong to a Dehart. You can keep tearing down her houses and buildings, but one day as much as she owns the town will need something from her one day.

If there were so much corruption with employees in town, why have none been charged with a crime? How many employees have been fired under the current manager?

Barry is still a member at the fire station. They didn't get rid of him and are not going to since the fire chief has no BALLS. He runs that place. Didn't you know that. Yes it is true he is not on the board and yes they called the police on him, but no its not true, he is still a member and always will be. You have to have a chief that will stand up and do whats right, not one that is there for the show. Get rid of the chief you have now and you will see. If the people really knew what goes on in that fire station and where the money is spent they would have a cow.

Wow. It just amazes me how you know absolutely everything about every one of these anonymous posters on this site. I bet your sh!t smells like roses too.

This is too funny. It is funny how some of the followers of the old regime have made this whole Town a joke, not just this thread. This could be a sitcom, but the sex, cash, and other scandals make it a drama. The Town needs to release the report on Barry so that everyone can know what he has been up to while we thought he was Walnut Cove's crown prince. I know for a fact that there are copies out there, because I have seen and read them. Those who have them will use them when the time is right.

In the meantime, I hope that our current elected officials know that I am praying for them, and that I and several others support them. They have a hard job, and we should all give them our input and support. The same is true of our town employees too. We may disagree with some decisions that are made, but they are good people and deserve our prayers and support.

The only way this Town will ever improve is if people drop vendettas and revenge plans and work together for the good of Walnut Cove.

The town has been a joke long before current and former people. How can the good of walnut cove be achevied? I can't bring myself to pray for a town that has how many law suits pending? Taking land from a person. Spending great amounts of money out of budget. I can pray that it is some how stopped.

I am sorry I left some things out. The town did release the paper work on the police cheif. Where were you anyone could go to the town office and get a copy. You only had to pay the copy expense. You still can get a copy, remember that everything in that office is public record!
How many employees have been fired down there? What did they do? What happened to the 2nd in charge at the police dept? Why was he fired? Small work force and half of it has been fired, must be a poblem upstairs.

You know the thing that really gets me is most of you don't know anything about the town employees, the money the town spends or anything else that goes on. You just go on what you hear through the grapevine, and then complain about everything!! I think that if you don't like how things are being done then run for town commissioner, apply for a job at town hall, join the fire department, become a police officer, or anything else to get you "inside" and then you can fix it all. If all that fails then just move! But you know what I bet you would find something to complain about anywhere else too!!

Then move the road is open since it is that simple. As I stated previously All the records in the town office are public record.
