Man accused of jewelry thefts shoots self in police standoff

Full story: Austin American Statesman

A man who police say was wanted in connection with several high-end jewelry and watch thefts in Austin and Bee Cave pulled out a handgun and fatally shot himself as officers approached him in a motel parking lot in Knoxville.

Thanks Dude, for saving taxpayers the cost of prosecuting you. Wouldn't it be nice if all the crooks would be so accomodating?

This is one way the death penalty can be very cheap. Now if only our govt. could execute someone this efficiently. I'm glad he took care of it instead.
