Norm and Al? At least we don't have Rod

Full story: TwinCities.com

Critics have reliably enough informed me that if Norm Coleman was short 200 votes or so, we would be seeing the same sort of desperate and disingenuous caterwauling that we see from the Al Franken camp.

Can't disagree more, Joe:

The Franken nomination by the DFL was as blatant a sellout as anything the Chicago Gov is accused of.
Was Franken the most qualified DFL candidate? No.
Was he the most aware of Minnesota interests? No.
Was he the most effective due to his past experience? No.

He was nominated for his ability to deliver $$$$$$$$$$ to the DFL Party.

Hey Minnesota DFL - your seat was golden and you wanted to get some bleeping $$$$ out of your candidate, didn't you. Be ashamed.

Sure smells like Chicago politics to me, Minnesota nice style.

Having attended the republican convention, I think the reason we only have pathetic losers to vote for is that the parties are run by groupthink that leads to extremely bad judgement.

There are so many talented, honest, and capable people in minnesota, yet the political parties dish up mediocrity or worse--every single time.

They have such crappy candidates, I don't care which one of these big-spending liberals gets elected. Minnesota is known for giving national prominence to goofy idiots like ventura, and I guess franken will be more of the same, if the democrats figure out how to swing the election to him.

I guess real Minnestons, unlike the writer of this "opinion piece" are not so xenophobic. In New York, for exaqmple, we welcome outsiders -- even ones from Minnesota. We are thrilled to have or to have had the likes of Bob Dylan, Garrison Keillor, Judy Garland, Winona Ryder and Roger Maris among us. You should be more like your felow Minnesotans and not look down on people just because they are from other parts of the country or world. In this case, it seems that Minnesotans prefered these New Yorkers to whatever Minnesotans were interested in the position. There is nothing wrong with that.

How so? He wasn't born here, he was born in New York, moved to St. Louis Park when he was four, graduated from The Blake School, left and didn't come back until he wanted to be a senator...

This is something we can agree on and I am a Democrat. Both parties are the same in that they have already decided who it will be.

Soucheray, you will always be a complete moron. The words you use to describe others really describe yourself: pompous, arrogant, and hypocritical. Will you be the next right-wing goon who hates himself to go public after finding out about a drug addiction, not paying Social Security taxes, calling in to phone lines for sex, or somethign else? I give it 90 days before something like that breaks.......

That's still 14 years that he can say he was a Minnesotan as a child. I think that give him more cred than that pond scum Coleman who can't keep his nose far enough George W. Bush's butt...

Don't be too mean. Joe does seem to be pompous and arrogant, which is why he lost me and many of my friends as listeners to his radio show. But, there are limits, Joe, drug addiction? Laughable, sex lines, hehe, doubt it still works, c'mon.
Be realistic with comments.

What you forget Joe, is the allegation good ol' Norm received $75,000 under the table from a rich Bloomington constituent to help with the $414,000 addition to his hovel. Are we to trust a Senator who can't manage his own financial affairs to manage those of our country and chooses to break the law to cover his incompetence? Sorry, but I won't bite. You may prefer mismanaging crooks for a Senator, but I think you need a comedian so you can "lighten up."

So you're not disagreeing with the premise, that the DFL nomination was about money, not qualifications. Your main rebuttal is he is not as bad as Norm. Do we have that right?

What is the point of having a hand recount of ballots in the Minnesota Senate race if the Democratic secretary of state is going to use the election night totals in precincts where it will benefit Democrat Al Franken?
Either the hand recount produces a better, more accurate count, or there was no point to the state spending roughly $100,000 to conduct the hand recount in the first place. Endlessly recounting ballots doesn't yield more accurate results, it just creates different results. There is no reason to think a tabulation is more accurate because it occurred later in time.
Election recounts are never intended to get more accurate results. They are simply opportunities for Democrats to manufacture new votes and steal elections.

Daily Horoscope for December 19

Taurus

Someone is very short-tempered, and they're liable to fly off the handle at a moment's notice. Maybe they're feeling vulnerable in some way or are desperately trying to defend what they see as their territory. Be sensitive to this and don't goad them into being even more irritable or upset than they are already. Frankly, it's just not worth it.
