East St. Louis OK'd for river cities program
East St. Louis has been certified as a River Edge Redevelopment Zone, a program designed to help revitalize riverfront areas by helping local developers and businesses revive and redevelop abandoned or contaminated properties.
The goal of the program is to stimulate economic development opportunities and create more jobs.
'The River Edge Redevelopment Initiative is a great incentive for private investors to invest in abandoned or underutilized properties in river communities because it helps offset some of the costs associated with redeveloping these properties,' said state Sen.
