I cannot understand why anyone would want to make a spectacle of themselves, much less their kid, on national TV airing their dirty laundry. Now the local news (thanks KOTV) is broadcasting something that should be contained within the family. WOW. These parents are idiots.
And the OBN says more than 12 million painkillers prescribed this year; and people are worried about pot smokers...
You sound like a prideful and arrogant person. This went on the show to get their son help. I commend them. They were more concerned about his welfare, thn they were about how other people would react. Kuddos to them. Hopefully their son will return to the Tulsa area, well on the road to permant recovery. The son has already made a spectacle of himself, while abusing drugs. I have faith that Tulsans will be proud that this young man is turning his life around. What a wonderful example his family is to be willing to humble themselves and receive help. It is an excellent example to other families that find themselves in the same situation.

One one hand, I agree with you dingalanglinglong....but on the other hand, I completely understand why someone would reach out to a talk show for help!

Perhaps they have drained their saving just TRYING to help their son over-come his vices....or maybe they feel like getting him out of Tulsa and away from his so-called "friends", that would potentially break him down again.

Addicition is a struggle...it take a strong sould to battle their demons and stay a completely sober life!!!

Hang in there Weatherford family...it's never an easy situation to deal with, and it often takes someone growing up and relapsing several times before they let it go completely!!!!

My heart goes out to these parents. I am having the exact problem with my own son only my son is actually in worse shape than this kid. I have had the same thoughts as them, well if I do this or if I do that maybe it will work this time. He is now endangering not only his own life but other peoples lives to. I've had him in treatment and therapy. He recently got out of the boys home, nothing has done any good. I fear for his life EVERY single day. He is now 18 and I no longer have any control at all.
VLF ... I feel for you. The love of my life has been addicted to Xanax and Alchol. It is a tough road and somedays you wake up wishing you didn't. He is on the road to recovery and has maintained he sobriety. I thank Valley Hope in Cushing, OK. You may want to look into this. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

to Home Depot I bought for my parents for Christmas, etc. All this occured when my family
was in Atlanta Georgia for my niece Victoria Hiel's funeral. I took the receipt for the Home Depot card to Home Depot and their cameras show him
using the card. I called the Tulsa Police Department and reported it to detectives and they did nothing. This crime occured over Christmas last year.
Michael, Our family forgives you, do not give up on
your treatment. The materialistic things we lost can be replaced but your life and freedom cannot.
God intervened to help you not Dr. Phill
JMM ~ Very touching that you have forgiven this young man for the crimes he committed while under the influence. You're right, material things can be replaced, this young man's can not.

Dr. Phil is a shady character at best. If you wanted help there are more then enough psychologists who are more qualified and better trained to handle your problems then this two-bit loser. The best of luck to your family.

OxyContin is legal heroin. It is great anytime that we can get attention to the problems caused. If you want to know the extent of the problem go to www.banoxycontin.com .

We have to address the source--the pill pushing doctors who seek profit above all else.

Uh, so other parents who's kids are going through the same thing can learn some warning signs and learn what things this family is doing to handle the situation. So they can head their kids off before it gets as bad as got with this kid. Seriously, some parents are clueless about this stuff and can learn from this.
This is not a new epidemic. The media has putting out warnings and warning signs for years. If parents don't know the warning signs by now, I don't see how Dr. Phil is going to help. The man is a clown who is bordering on Springer and Povich territory.

Of course, If all you need is a new catch phrase that barely fits the situation then by all means, Phil is your man.

There's a charge. Sign away all rights and allow Phill to shine his brand of light on your family. Abandon all family pride and step right up, folks.

The kid will probably fail treatment just so he doesn't have to go back on the show.
Robin is hot though, I'd hit it.

Always wanted to try Oxy to see what everyone is talking about.

I understand your argument and I understand the problem with the illegal distribution of the drug. But I must tell you that particular medication was given to my father by the VA when he was dying of lung cancer and it did help relieve his pain. I am grateful that his death was as free of pain as possible because of it. There is a need for this drug.

You are absolutely right. Most physicians are pawns of the larger pharmaceutical companies. Capitalism at its worst!

Daily Horoscope for December 31

Sagittarius

You're in a strange mood, Sagittarius. You're feeling impatient and cross, and nothing is quite right. No wonder, with Mercury and Mars retrograde, under a Full Moon lunar eclipse! But is it necessary to be quite so contrary, so determined to do the opposite of what's expected of you? Try to sort out the problem sooner rather than later, then do something energetic and therapeutic so you can burn off your nervous energy. Then you're all set for a great New Year's Eve!
