Chick-Fil-A threatens to sue bar

Full story: www.wlox.com

It wasn't quite the attention Kris Kwitzky expected to get for a phrase printed on a t-shirt. Three words, "Eat More Beer," prompted Chick-Fil-A to threaten suit against his bar, according to Kwitzky.

Okay, that's the most ridiculous thing I've read here. I hope Mr. Kwitzky finds a good, mean dog of a local lawyer and tells those buttheads to bring it on.

Don't cave in, Kris! First thing I'd do is have a fundraiser to raise your legal fees, others have done it here and then have your lawyer write them a letter saying, bring it on, if your company who thinks its cute to spell things wrong can't tell beer from chicken there's a Mississippi jury here who damn sure can.

I bet that jury would give Kris his lawyer fees and a good damage award if he asked for money for business interference damages. I, for one, won't ever eat any of their nasty hormoned pumped bacteria chicken just because they feel they can step all over a tiny bar in a tiny state.

Kiss my grits, Chik-fil-A! Boycott!

Does anyone here think there is a substantial similarity between "chikin" and BEER?

If you do, don't go to Popeyes and order a beer!

Where's Earl Denham? He was on this website awhile back. Calling Earl...what do you think? Could you win this one for the little guy?

Chik-Fil-A is a rip off...$20 for a chicken sandwich that you can get for $2 at McDonalds? Plus they're not open on Sundays...ripoff artists.

It's a loser for the bar. They stole the trade dress (concept, type style, etc). Slam dunk winner for the chicken guys.

If you don't think a word or two makes a difference, try opening DISNEY PLANET with the same printing font, a little red rat with red shorts, etc and see how fast that mouse sues you.

Sorry but same font style and everything, Kris should come up with something original. A good print shop woulda warned you about infringement.

Got my t-shirt ... the next one should poke right to the heart of Chik-Fil-A ... something like ...

Kwitzky's where there are no fillets, just chicks and beer. You can use this, it's not copyrighted (although I would like a free shirt if one is made).

I don't think it's a slam dunk. Kris can spell. Their stupid slogan isn't spelled correctly. I didn't even connect the T-shirts with Chik-fil-A until I saw it on WLOX and thought, you've got to be kidding me, why would they care about a tiny bar in a tiny town?

Onlee a stuppid moreon wud thank da shirtz r da sam as thet nazzty chikin shak.

I'm sure there's no more damaging food in a "chikin biscuit" than there is in a sausage and biscuit.

"It is well settled that copyright law protects only plaintiffs particular expression of his ideas, not the ideas themselves." Arden, 908 F. Supp. at 1258; 17 U.S.C.§ 102(b).7

So, is saying, "Eat more beer" the same as "Eat mor chikin"? Got any ideas?

Ok, I am "SO" sure that when Kris came up with the shirts he was thinking, "I'll steal the concept from Chick-Fil-A". This isn't the first public lawsuit about their slogan but it doesn't seem to matter when they do it to another corp. read the below excerpt taken from Wiki.
Chick-fil-A has also used a billboard that simply states, "We do chicken left." This was to indicate that the restaurant could be found by taking a left off the interstate exit, but was also a play on the former Kentucky Fried Chicken slogan, "We do chicken right." The company also produces annual coupon-bearing "cow calendars" every year, featuring bovines in various parodies that have included "The Cow Channel"(2003), "Cow Superheroes"(2004), "Secret Agent Cows"(2005), "Cows in Shining Armor"(2006), "The Good, The Bad, and the Hairy"(2007), "One-Hit Wonder Cows" (2008), "The Bovines in Blue" (2009), and "Great Works of Cow Literature" (2010).[5]

Check out this letter that attrition.org rec. from the "Chickens".

I think Kris needs to come up with a shirt that says, "Screw the Cows I like Beer with my Beef".
