Looking to move to the Gatlinburg area and have some questions. Wondering how long term camping is? Thinking about long-term camping till I find an apartment near or in Gatlinburg. Also wondering how the job market is there? I am a Veteran and I have a Bachelor's Degree but I am willing to take any job available. Wondering what minimum wage is in Tennessee? Hope to sell my house before heading to Gatlinburg but chances are it won't happen for awhile with this market.

Sounds good. What did you plan to do with it?

You're a veteran, so that might be helpful in getting a job in law enforcement. I'd do my research before I applied to any of the law enforcement agencies in Sevier County though. Lots of nonsense goes on around here.

not sure anymore hard to find jobs in that field. May choose another field like healthcare.

Looks like im moving Sept or Oct to Gatlinburg going to stay in long term camping. Anyone know of a clean safe and cheap campground to stay at long term? Long term like 5 or 6 months. Figure it will be cheaper than an apartment. Gotta find a job too. Anyone know of who might be hiring? I am a Veteran and have a college degree in criminal justice. I have been recently working as a Home Health Aid with the mentally challenged.

I am a soon to be college graduate, majoring in Hospitality Management. My wife, son and I right now live near Huntington,WV. We've been looking at every town down that way within an hours drive to move to. My wife's going to transfer to Walter States C.C. to finish her degree in Paralegal Studies. So with both of us having degrees what are the chances of landing decent jobs down in this area? We're not looking to become "rich" just want to find our piece of "Americana" somewhere that isn't here and give out son a better chance over Marshall U. or Ohio U. and a place that has no jobs hardly.

Was wondering if it would be a good idea if my dad were to move to gatlinburg to open a restaraunt? He's had a successful business for the past 20+ yrs, and he's wanting a change of scenery. He's known all over for his homemade biscuits and gravy and homecooked meals. I think he would do well, but I'd like someone else's opinion :)

Gatlinburg would be a great place to loose your ass at, severly over priced on almost everything.

I would seriously look at opening your restaurant in Knoxville or Nashville instead. Opening a business in a Mountain town without being "born & bread" here is a tough road and the "locals" will give you a very hard time.

Because it is true. Even the big name multi-million dollar places don't last around here. You might come down here, but you money will stay when you leave. It is very risky here right now.

Why? be specific. Who or what happened? No generalities. Who must you watch out for and why? You sound knowledgeable of the area. this forum is anonymous. Give specifics or it doesn't sound creditable
