Can we get a comprehensive list of all of the American locally owned businesses currently in Gatlinburg?

I have a visit coming up and I want to only patronize American owned stores, eateries and attractions.

I want to do what I can to give back to the community I loved as a young child and not contribute to what is fastly becoming.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Help please?

I've read a lot of complaints about the current state of Gatlinburg and the Pakistani influx.

This list is something productive.

Help me support American owned businesses in your town.

Not at all.

Just want to support American owned businesses.

Not really suprised to see that noone is willing to help. Par for the course.

People love to complain but are always far too lazy to do anything about it when it comes time to put the money where their mouths are.

And some of you wonder how the town got this way?

I would shop in the arts and crafts district of Gatlinburg. These are all mom and pop shops that once was on the main parkway but the high rent made them relocate. Howards Steakhouse,Calhouns,Smoky Mnt Brewery,Best Italian are all usa owned.

Many businesses downtown are american owned.Pancake Pantry,Log cabin Pancake house,Blaines,Puckers and so on.

The rent downtown Gatlinburg can cost a shop owner $5,000 to $25,0000 a month.

Very few businesses in Gatlinburg that aren't "American owned"! Basically, you've got centuries of business owners that were owned by parents/grandparents that just keep passing down and being run by family, or at least "owned" by families. Many people have become quite wealthy off the labor of their employees, but they do offer jobs, very hard jobs, none the less jobs. Every once in a while a real cutie will get lucky and marry into the family, and the offspring will be set for life, so they say, lol!

As long as they offer jobs, I don't really care who owns the business.

Why does it matter if the business is run or owned by an American. Any one with a bussiness in America is an techniquly an "American run business."

It matters to me because I'm the one who asked.

I don't owe you an explanation.

How do you know that someone of Pakistani heritage isn't an American? Guthrie's probably just a white supremisist coming to town for their conference.

There are as many "Patel"s in the TN phone books as the name Smith. This is NOTHING new!!! I lived in TN for 16 years and all the hotels were owned by them 15 years ago!! I am sure it must have something to do with your local representatives wanting to "get more money " from the federal government thru whatever channels are available along those lines, so there is no increase in the local tax burden that locals must pay for their own cities!! People can be so naive about local & federal governments and they expect money to fall from the sky!! Well, it doesn't! Look into your world around you instead of Bi*&**ng & complaining about it! would it surprise you to know that over the last few years Canada has become a prime investor in the US??? Open a book!! Make your city governments accountable for your problems, your state governments as well. Other countries see our weaknesses & they go for the throat!! Knowledge is power!! Change it!! Attend meetings!! Know what's going on in your city & state, and most of all make sure you know the reasons why, so you can collectively put a stop to it. Most of all, you must also know how this is going to hurt your pocket and are you willing to take that hit???

I'm returning now from being in gatlinburg. I was shocked to notice that many of the shops are replaced by new ones. The owners have foreign accents. I would guess 80% are now run by Indians Pakistanis and
now Ukrainians! I asked one lady where she was from and she said Ukraine. I asked 2 other shop owners where they were from: Ukraine. I jokingly asked " did you folks buy up the whole left side of Gatlinburg? She with barely veiled hatred and distain said" Yeah, pretty much".

I tried to ask a vendor whom I asked first if he was American, about what was happening with all the foreigners. He refused to even talk about it. I asked another group and they seemed afraid but one woman spoke up with an attitude of careless determination and told us that the chamber of commerce was Iranians. That there was nothing they could do but try to stand. The others looked at her and each other nervously.

I spoke to a young lady in a in busy shop and she carefully began to open up a little. She said the town was being bought up by a rich lawyer
called Joe Baker and that he is renting the shops out toforeigners because they can afford higher rent since they don't have to pay taxes for 5 years. She said the foreigners change the business name and
sell it to a relative and it continues tax free for 5 more years.

It's destroying Gatlinburg. It feels creepy. I asked what the religious affiliation of most of the foreigners was--they said: MUSLIM!!!!

A Muslim foothold in the mountains of
Tennessee!

Very scary and poignant!
