Burning the 'no smoking' sign? Law doesn't like that, either

Full story: www.mailtribune.com

Confronted by the state's new smoking ban in bars, a Mill City smoker lit up anyway - setting a "No Smoking" sign in a Medford club afire early this morning after he was told he couldn't have a cigarette.

Was it really worth a few puffs from a cig? Grow up and have your temper tantrum outside.

Lucky for him it didn't start the whole place on fire.

oh..and if you dont like the smoke, stay out of the places where people smoke.you still have that choice.but dont go imposing your beliefs on everyone else.there's been room for both sides for generations.no reason not to be able to live with both now.

Don't you think there was a "little bit" more at stake at the Boston Tea party? That smoker could have stepped outside to have his cigarette - the colonists had no such choices...

Are you insane?
How many times did your drunken mother drop you on your head?
I smoke, but I respect others when in public. Yea, I want my grand-baby sitting there eating while you blow toxic smoke in her face and on her food....
Dang I can't even stand to eat with smoke in my face...someone really has serious issues if they can not go without smoking out of respect for others...

There is no justification for his reaction but at the same time it should be left up to a business whether they want to be a smoking place or a non-smoking place.

And if you don't want to be around smoke don't go to the business that allows it.

If you want to ban it everywhere then have the guts to make tobacco illegal.... this is getting ridiculous.

Shall we close the bars next? Drunk driving is a problem so it would be better for you to drink at home, let's ban all alcohol from the same places that smoking is banned....that second hand drinking is REALLY killing people....

If the levels of ketones in the air at a distillery were as high as in the average small bar, the workers would be required to wear filter masks....second hand alchohol kills.
I'm living in a state with a smoking ban everywhere including your own car (though I can still text message if I want), and their going to sin tax drinks with sugar in them...

Geez... I had forgotten about that...yeah, taxing drinks with sugar, but the ones loaded with chemical artificial sweeteners that all doctor tell women not to consume while pregnant, go ahead and give that to the kid when they are out of the womb.... LOL

First you target the smokers through social pressure....then you target the fatties...they will soon take fat children out of the home for their protection....

It has to be the health insurance companies because alcohol kills...it is faster though so it doesn't raise health cost return....LOL

laws are enacted for "PAR BONO" if that isn't a good use of common sense why don't we just let any one drive or have a gun or do to his fellow man as he pleases..

You have the right to stay out of the business that allows smoking too.... I can't stand the smell of beer...never have liked it...so don't serve it where I am eating....

I have as much right to that space as you do....

Great, just got off ABC news site (couldn't copy the link) and they are talking about 'third hand smoke' now. Just smelling the smoke smell from a smoker's clothing is so hazardous they are thinking of all KINDS of new consequences for smokers...but all that obnoxious perfume, hairspray, body lotion, scented soap, much less BO and bad breath, etc must be fine.
I had already heard about that...as I said the intent is to ban smoking but they don't have the nerve to outright ban tobacco so they pretend it is for bogus health consequences....

While others try to legalize pot smoke...

Use your common sense...smoking hurts the smoker no doubt, but this is all social pressure to get them to stop...

It has been made illegal to smoke in your own car in some places, now the 'Third Hand" smoke argument....

So keep cigarettes at home? Keep your alcohol at home too so there is no transportation problem...no public drunkeness... second hand alcohol kills too, and a lot faster...

But gee....apparently you don't want that 'right' taken away...

What is PAR Bono? Did you mean PRO?

Tobacco use is still legal, but banned? And a business can't decide for themselves to either be a smoking or a non-smoking establishment? I'm not talking about half and half...I mean either/or.

But you can drink in public which means most drive home after...yet you can't smoke in your own car though it DOESN"T impair your driving...

There is a lot more evidence that Second hand alcohol kills....

this no smoking seems to be working out just fine here. lots of bars now have a outside place for those who do smoke, so everyone is a happy camper.

u can argue ur rights vs my rights all u want, fact is its here - deal with it..

After ALMOST 4 DECADES of smokeing. But have now QUIT for 14 months.I will still say ,dont breath where i smoke.Smokers have the right to smoke.I can understand why non=smokers dont like it,it does stink, really it does.BUT to ban smokeing in your car or apt.house or in a private owned bar or reaterunt is so lame.i suppose the goverment now owns and can make rules in other peoples private bussiness and cars, homes ect. this is dictorship, not for the people by the people.it is even more lame for them to be able to ban smokeing in a memembership only type of club, bar, resterunt. If you dont like smoke ,you dont have to pay your money to become a member of a club.I think i should open a private smokers club, that serves drink and food. For one dollar you can become a member too of my smokers only club.Have a meal and a drink while you enjoy a good cigar. GOVERMENT INTRUSTION IS DICTORSHIP,COMMUNISN.CONTROL BY A TOTAILTARIAN STATE.NOT BY AND FOR THE PEOPLE

Daily Horoscope for December 22

Leo

If you ask someone to give you a hand today, don't be surprised if they make a mess of it. That's probably because their mind isn't on the job, but it might also be because your instructions aren't as clear as usual. So before you get angry, check that what you said made sense. Relations with someone older or more influential than you could also be blighted by confusion or doubt now.
