cogle,

Strange, there is something hauntingly familiar about that face, but can't quite put my finger on it. It could be, and probably is, that it heavily reminds me of someone else. And I would hate to send you down a dead end alley.

First off, the top roll of pictures (http://www.doenetwork.org/cases/1007umga.html ), the ones of him in older him in his older years, does not bring any sense of recognition. And the bottom row far left, the youngest, which about his age of when I believe I could have seen him, also brings only slight a feeling of possible recognition. But the other picture, as I said, hauntingly familiar, particularly the bottom far right one.

I lived in Denver from the early 70s to the mid 80s, and the sense of recognition of this person also brought the thought of a Japanese Buddhist Center that was in Lakewood CO. It was just north of Colfax Ave and a few blocks west of Simms, on Tabor Street I think. Anyway, the time period would be 82 to 85.

I wish I could bring up a more concrete metal picture of what there is about his face that invokes such a strong sense of familiarity. What I do know, is its not from the time period that I've in northwest Indiana or Indianapolis, but would be in Denver, most likely the early 80s.

No, not at this time, its been too long since I've lived there. Besides, the familiarity is just too vague.

However, should this direction show any promise and someone wishes a follow up conversation with me.

Have them call Sacramento (CA) Regional Transit Dist. and ask for Fred in Safety.

What role did you play at the Buddhist center? Were you a guest or were you staff? I was wondering if the center hosted events like weddings or conferences?

TY!!

A bit more than a guest, but not staff. This Buddhist sect was very active in proselytizing, so people would come and go. People would show up and become quite active within the group for few months and then you wouldn't see them anymore. Just a revolving door of people. I guess stayed longer than most, hung out there off and on for about two and half years.

It was a Nichiren Sect, it still has a presence In Denver, just not sure where or under what name.

Interesting-I took a moment to check it out on the web and realized it sounded familiar because I briefly followed the teachings in college-the biggest attraction for me was concept of being able to achieve enlightenment in my own life rather than in the afterlife. But I digress, lol.

Do you recall if the building attracted vendors, vagrants, had any non practicing staff for maitenance etc? The time frame of the 80's is about right I believe for Mr. Kyle's presence there....TIA

I spoke with a friend in Denver this Morning and the Sect is now at Colfax and Speer and under the name of Soka Gakkai.

There was several hard core faithful that I'm sure would still be involved. Perhaps a e-mail or call may lead to something. Couldn't find a e-mail address, but they do have this website http://www.sgi-usa-denver.org/

No, as I remember, they were fairly much self contained, utilizing members to do most things. Me

Those were hard times for me, and although I can't say that my participation with was the cause, those hard times are long gone.
