Looks like Thornton Ave. is on the move. I think the old Zumgulise house is up for sale again. What’s up with Beverly’s house?

Judging from the sign on the front lawn, the house appears to be for sale, you dumb bastard.

I can remember Beverly Jarosz's murder too. I was a kid back then and I remember thinking that things like that just don't happen in this area. Now it's an every day thing. I also remember around a year or so ago, on the news they said there's a detective in Garfield that's still on that case. Like that Anthony Sewell nut-job, I wonder if the murdered of Miss Jarosz has killed any more?

Horrigan 's suspect was McNamara. He told me this personally during the summer of 1993 when I visited him at home.

The detective that investigated the case for so many years Det. Horrigan passed away a number of yrs.ago. He had stated that he knew who the killer was within the first days of the investigation. He would not give the name of the person he suspected. He told the reporter that he would not give him the name as he (the reporter) would not be able to use it anyway. Maybe it was an individual with family connections. What if Beverly's body were to be exumed? Could there still be DnA available after all these years.?
The story as I knew it to be is that the SIDE door was open but the screen door was closed but the inner door to the kitchen was open. Barb rings the doorbell, hears the loud music, hears the thud (which was Beverly fighting for her life) etc. Later Bev's father rushes home finds the side storm doorUNLOCKED the inner door still open....and that the back door was completely open.
My question,.,who was it that the detective Horrigan who died think it was - why wouldn't he say? Are there any of his relatives that would say who he thought it was. How come in that last articler written in Free Times..."The Enduring Mystery of Beverly Jarosz" there is not one sentence devoted to the suspect of Klonowski in any way. Wouldn't this have been included in this article that mentioned all the other possibl suspects,McNamara, Paliyan, etc. No connection with Klonowski is mentioned. We need more info about the Klonowski family to be brought forth into the public limelight. When you narrow it all down there's really not that many people who could have done this it just has to be within her circle. Now, someone knows something! Someone knows more than they are saying and is avoiding any press.

McNamara? I don't recall hearing that name before. Did he live in the neighborhood or close by? Soon it will be the 45th anniversary of her death. Hope some new details come out soon.

You mean Roger McNamara? Bev's straitlaced, old Catholic, frat boy, Republican McNamara? Why did Horrigan think it was him?

Yes, Roger McNamara. Horrigan told me his polygraph was inconclusive. Horrigan also told me that McNamara's auto, when examined, was scrubbed clean "with a toothbrush." Furthermore, McNamara never flat out denied responsibility. His statement: "If I did it, I don't remember doing it."

Very interesting. And does anyone know where this McNamara is now? Why don't they ask him for DNA or at least question him again?

Thanks for sharing some of the details of your visit with Det. Horrigan. Based on your dialogue with him it’s understandable how he could feel this way. In addition, he appears to be the only new addition to Beverly’s circle of friends over the last 6 months of her life. He could have had his eye on Beverly (fixation) from grade school since they both attended St Therese’s concurrently. And if you trust the scent dogs that would seem to rule out any neighbor. I believe Det. Horrigan felt the choice of radio station and music playing when the police arrived was important to solving the murder. Did Det. Horrigan mention how the radio station and the music relate to the murderer?

I reread my notes from my 1993 meeting with Det. Horrigan this past weekend. He made no comments to me about how the choice of music or radio station might relate to the crime or the murderer.

My notes DID include further some further circumstantial information indicating why Roger McNamara always remained Horrigan's primary suspect. Apparently, in spite of his relationship with the victim, McNamara never made an appearance at the funeral home, nor did he attend Beverly's funeral.

Tell us more. In his book, Renner maintains that Mcnamra was at the wake. Allthough authors have been known to be wrong. I dont believe there were any police dogs at the house or crime scene. Garfield Hts and Cleveland detectives quickly became frustrated interviewing neighbors and potential witnesses who they find to be slow witted and hostile. I recently sat down and got drunk with a retired Garfield hts detective and he told me all the whos and hows. He described many of the young men from the area as being "border line queers" or as having sexual maladjustments.
