I'll be moving to Michigan in June for one year and I'm currently looking for a condo or apartment to rent. I prefer the Escanaba or Gladstone area. If anyone can provide some information on where I can look online it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

I did make the big move in June and I am loving upper Michigan. The people are very friendly and helpful. I have made some wonderful friends. I have also learned a lot about the area. There are some really great sites to visit.

I am from upstate ny and feel totally comfortable in the area. I've found that everyone is more than willing to lend a hand or go out of their way for you.

I just noticed you're from Adams, Ma. Do you know anyone by the name of Brenda Volff or Volfe, not sure how she spelled it?

That name sounds familiar but I havent resided in Adams since the mid eighties. I think it is volfe My big concern is just how much is there to do around there and check out family watchdog.us for the "offenders" i was wondering if the natives were going to be friendly like in Indiana or rude and indifferent like they can be in New England. I am wondering also just how long the winters are.

I haven't been there a winter yet but I was told that it is similar to upstate ny so I shouldn't find it that hard. There is a larger town of Marquette that is not too far away and that is where we end up most of the time. Depending on what you like to do, there is definitely a lot going on. I have found the people to be very friendly and extremely helpful to newcomers.

If you are a hunter and fisher then you will love the area. There is also places that you can go offroading. There are a lot of cultural activities, parks, beaches, museums, etc so there is always something to do. I have seen the barstool race and it was quite funny. There is also a movie (comedy) called with Jeff Daniels called "Escanaba In Da Moonlight". It's about a hunter that's never shot anything. If you are a hunter, you'll find the movie quite funny.

I am very happy that I made the move. The people are wonderful and I had a very easy time making friends. I'm sure that you'll love it. When do you plan on moving?

It is all contingent upon being offered a job on the railroad, I called today and found out the salary is not quite what i was looking for. I have an interview on Thursday to go to if I want; I am in talks with my wife about it and will decide tomorrow wednesday morning if i am going to go to it. If I go and get an offer, Maybe 2 to 3 weeks from now before I move up there. Right now i think I may wait for nestle to open their new plant in Anderson In and hope to land a job there as many co workers and old management and supervisors from Chrysler Kokomo are now working there. It is all a big gamble now with the economy and I am still keeping the interview option open. I will be at the econo lodge or super 8.

Well Escanaba is interesting and nice. the few people i spoke to told me it does get down to below zero there in the winter for extended periods. The countryside was refreshing and the motel room was suprisingly cozy and relaxing
I was 45 minutes late for my testing/interview. i didnt know the the ore dock is in wells and not escanaba. I hope to hear back from them as it seemed to be a good place to work as in everyone tried to get along well with each other and joke around a little too. Suprisingly there were only 3 of us that interviewed for the job. they put the ad online and not in the local rag (newspaper).
