I urge all county residence to vote NO if this plan is put on the April ballot. It has a lot of flaws in it and has not addressed all the issues. Re: Trailer Parks (according to the way it reads, if I was to bring in another trailer to rent, I would have to have it on 3 acres and a permenant foundation, I can not rent just lots spaces etc. It does not say how to change an ordinance. Does the commissioners have the say at their whim or does it have to go before the county to vote on. We have state laws that cover a lot of the ordinances, so why do we need them? Please obtain a copy so that you can read it. Why aren't the hearings held so that you can hear what others are commenting about. Please think about this?

I agree everyone should read the proposed zoning as well as the existing ordinances. The waste water/septic information can be found at http://www.jococourthouse.com/OWTSOrdinance.h... What part of the zoning document requires the trailer to be put on a permenant foundation? There is no building codes included in the zoning document. What part of the zoning document requires you to have the trailer on 3 acres? Last question. Do you currently have a trailer park, planning on having a trailer park or just talking about placing one trailer on your land? If it is placing one trailer I do not see anything in the proposed zoning that would prevent that. Again, I agree everyone should read the proposal for themselves. http://jcedc1234.web.aplus.net/jocoplanning/

I do not have my copy of the one I got at the open house with me at this time, which of course was the one that I made my comments about, but according to the one on line, the requirement for mobile homes to be put on permanent foundations is on page 13, but the update does state that mobile home parks are exempt. Yes,I do own a small mobile home park. I just want the proposal to make it clear what can and can not be done. I also would ask that the committee respond to my other issues as well. I do not live in Independence like is says by my name, I live in Warrensburg.

Today I visited another subdivision in the county that had a single 7 foot wide road. I was not able to drive out of the subdivision without having to drive off of the road to allow a car to inter the neighborhood. At least this one had some gravel on it. I have had to visit homes where I left my car on the county road after watching a resident in a 4 wheel drive pickup get stuck in the 3 1/2 foot deep mud puddle in the middle of what was supposed to be a road. The planning committe has added some items on trailer parks. I have not visited all of the trailer parks in the county but most of the ones that I have visited are full of trash, junk cars, dogs and cats running loose and have dirt lanes. I think trailer parks should be required to mantain storm shelters for the residents. This however was left out of the proposed rules. I think the proposed rules should have been more restrictive. I plan to vote for the proposal.

1. Zoning won't fix any existing problems. 2. It doesn't address junk cars if they're not selling parts, critters running loose, or junky properties. 3. Real problems (subdivision roads, etc.) could be addressed without controlling how we use our property. 4. The County Commission can change ANYTHING in the plan/rules and nobody can do anything about it. Even the Daily Star Journal doesn't trust the County Commission. There is organized opposition - see http://www.johnsonliberty.com or http://www.olddrum.net .

I am doing a persuasive speech for a class on county zoning. Is there a website or book you could inform me of to get information from.
