Anyone have an opinion? My take is this. If your a Democrat and the Democrats are having a bad track record, you don't abandon ship. What kind of a coward abndons his ship?? Did the Captain of the Titanic board a lifeboat to be rescued... NO Does Mallia not have principles and morals that align with any political party? Anyone else have an opinion... Mine is I'm not voting for Wayne Mallia in the 405th District Court, I want a man of integrity to hold that position.

My vote is for Michelle Slaughter for the 405th - she is a true conservative. Her website is www.slaughterforjudge.com if you want to learn more about her. We cannot let Mallia slide by and get re-elected as a Republican when he's been in office for 10+ years as a Democrat!

Wayne Mallia is not the first politician to switch parties so why single him out as a 'traitor'. Experience and qualifications is what counts.

Mallia is experienced, but if you look at the data from Galveston county court records from 2001 forward (when Mallia started) you'll see he has run the least efficient district court in Galveston county over the last 10 years. That costs all of us money. And his STEP program is too lenient with criminals. It's like a 2nd chance at parole. Parole itself is supposed to be the 2nd chance. Parole violators should go to jail! Based on the above and the fact that I want someone with real conservative values to be our judge has led me to decide to vote for Michelle Slaughter.

There have been numerous politicians who have switched when they found their ideas and values no longer fit with their party. I would certainly include Judge Mallia in that group along with Ronald Regan, Rick Perry and former County Judge Ray Holbrook.

I am highly offended that you have compared Mallia to Ronald Reagan - our greatest President! And you spelled Reagan's name wrong - you are clearly not a Republican yourself. Those politicians you named changed parties out of real conviction - their actions showed that fact. From Mallia's actions it is obvious he is only calling himself a Republican to keep his job and not because of his values. He even admitted to one of the Republican elected officials that he switched because he wanted to keep his job. Mallia only changed parties after the Nov. 2010 election when Republicans swept every contested race in Galveston County. And even right before that 2010 election, he was still giving money to Democrat candidates, clubs, and leftist organizations. Even today, Mallia still defends his entitlement program for convicted felons - that certainly isn't conservative or Republican.

Educated voters know that Paul H. LaValle is the most experienced and best qualified candidate for the 405th JDC. He's been a practicing attorney for the past 25 years and was a municipal court judge for 12 years. Neither of the other candidates have the experience, maturity or temperament to be a state district judge. www.lavalle-law.com

How is Mallia the only qualified candidate? If the other candidates aren't qualified how did they get their names on the ballot??

(1) Michelle Slaughter - Conservative Republican (2) Wayne Mallia (elected as a Dem. 3 times but now running as a Republican because the County is now Republican and he wants to keep his job) (3) Zach Maloney - R (4) Paul LaValle - R (but questionable) All the candidates are technically qualified as far as I know. No legitimate Republican or Conservative would vote for Mallia. And he has a terrible record as a judge. My vote is for Michelle Slaughter - best credentialed, hardest working, and a true Conservative Republican.

Agree - Mallia is a DEMOCRAT - He has been in office since 2001 as a Democrat and switched parties in 2011 only after our county switched to Republican. He is clearly only in it for the job. He has no principles. How can someone claim to be Republican when they donated money to divisive liberal groups such as the NAACP and LULAC? Vote for Michelle Slaughter if you want a true conservative Republican!

Judge Dupey is a shining star in comparison to Mallia. Hit the streets and find something you can do. Apparently a District Judge is not one of them.

I can understand if you do not want to vote for Mallia cuz he switched parties.
But slaughter has never ever ever voted in a Republican primary!
How do we know she is not just jumping on the Republican bandwagon?
A TRUE Republican would have been voting in Republican primaries.
Besides, she has NEVER even litigated a case in a Galveston District court.
Vote for a "real" Republican if that is how you decided to choose your judges, but rest assured that Slaughter is no "real" Republican...
