Landlords Beware of Amanda Bruce

Prince William County has a predator on the loose. If you own property and are looking for a renter, avoid Amanda Bruce like the plague. She has a very long history of unlawful detainers, warrants in debt, and also criminal charges. Look her up on the web in the VA Court Case Files and you will find that she is quite famous in this area as well as Fairfax and Virginia Beach Counties. If you rent to this woman you will not only never be paid rent, but she is expert at using the law to stay in your property as long as she can. Her dogs destroy the property and she will lie to the courts, do anything she can to stay in your home until she is darn good and ready to get out. Check her out at

She also has an alias - Amanda Shokase.

If you rent to her you will be the most miserable landlord around. She will give you the impression she is sweet as pie and will give you a hard luck story. Don't believe her, she's lying. She has stolen and lied from most of her employers and friends as well.

Do not rent to this woman. You will be very, very sorry.

Is it purely coincidence, or could this be the same Amanda Movius aka Lady Amanda Bruce who is wanted in the U.K., France and Germany for various scams and debt, and who is also wanted in a number of States in the U.S. for serious fraudulent activities, allegedly, pertaining to vacation rentals of non-existent properties?

Last known to be in the Los Angeles, CA area.

I think that this Amanda Bruce is originally from CA. But dont think that she lives there now. I was her latest victim in the rental scam. It took me months to get her out of my rental, but she is finally gone. I am left with some financial hardships due to her lack of paying bills,but have learned a very expensive lesson. Just wanted to warn anyone out there with a rental DO NOT rent to her. She will not pay rent or anything else for that matter. She is a very good liar and will have you believing her hard luck stories.(For a while anyways) It didnt take me long to figure out no one can have that much misfortune. I know her daughter goes to a local school so she will stay in the area for her daughter untill school is out. She will most likely be looking for a new place to live, dont let it be your place. I know alot of other people who have been taken in by her. Too bad i didnt do my research prior to renting to her. But you know what they say "Hind sight is 50/50". She has a long list of unlawful detainers and warrant in debts. This is a way of life for her and she doesnt care who she hurts or uses. I found out about her the hard way and dont what this to happen to anyone else. If I can help just one person avoid dealing with this con artist it will make my day, if Amanda Bruce gets what she deserves it will make my year. Good luck to all who may encounter her, be warned.

What name was she using? Amanda Bruce or Movius or some other name? What did she do to you?

she got me good, used my pay pal account. screwed me over on this fictious Hawaii house for over $4500. Payed her rent, but found out while she was in jail, she was evil. I changed the locks and kicked her out. I knew her as Amanda George, then found out it was Movius, Grimes, and used a fake ID which lead her to jail here, using a false ID as Kelly Robinson, which she used to purchase a vehicle, and used it when she was arrested, which lead to another felony charge for using false Identification. You really need to be clear when using someones name. I too share that name and now having a hard time to ret from anyone because of this.

for all of you that are waiting for the latest Amanda update she was in san diego and lived here from 3-15-9 thru 4-15-9. She claims to be a script writer for hollywood, has a house in carmel, married to royalty in the uk, three kids, 42 years old sound familiar??? she wanted us to start an internet business while she was here but became frustrated when we didnt want to open a paypal account.she moved in saying her car had been broken into and everything was stolen, she only had one outfit, smokes and in a 3 wk period she literally drank 15 bottles of alcohol and cleaned out our entire liquor cabinet. she is an amazing liar and pathological, probably bi-polar with a gnarly drinking problem. we confronted her and she denied it, we then told her leave the house the next day or we would call the police. Little did we know who we had staying with us. She managed to get credit card info, jewlery, cash, clothes before leaving and make purchases one of them being a bus ticket to salinas california. she is still using the name george for now but could change she is one of the most pathetic, low life scums we have ever encountered, she has bad karma and its just a matter of time before it catches up. she is wanted now in SD as well :)

Amandu George has been picked up by the Carmel By-The-Sea, CA police department. They picked here up this morning, 4/17/09. She pulled a scam at a local inn and then squatted at one of our vacation rentals. We believe she kept a key from a previous stay with us last year, under the name Amanda George. She had contacted us on the 15th, which coincides with the bus ticket to Salinas on the 15th. She attempted to rent a vacation home using the name of Sarah Johnson. The police are aware of this thread and will hopefully follow up with the jurisdictions of the other people that have been scammed.

Just so all the facts are clear, Amanda Bruce/George is not the same woman as the other. Amanda Bruce doesn't have two girls, she does have three children but they do not live with her.

heard on the local talk radio news (KLBJ AM) today at 5 pm that she had been arrested at the San Jose Hotel (Iin Austin) and that she was wanted in 4 or 5 countries. Grimes and George were the 2 aliases they mentioned.

The front page of the Monterey County Herald has a photo and article on Amanda Leigh Grimes. She's being held at the Monterey County jail. Bail is set at $200,000. She's has warrants in Texas and Washington. She's charged with burglary, possesing burglary tools, possession of stolen property, providing false information to a police officer, etc, etc, etc!!!! This should keep her off the streets!!

Hey, that was constructive. Just a word of caution because she has "socialized" with most of the rapper set and their legions of hanger-on types in LA.
I had the misfortune of meeting her at a party in LA several years ago. At least I believe it was her. Slender blonde that periodically spoke with a British accent.
I gave her four hundred dollars as a "loan" after she claimed to have lost her purse. Never saw her again,(hopefully never will after reading the posts).
