I wonder if you'd be so flippant about it if it was someone you knew and loved.

My sympathies go out to his family. Especially his wife. There are too many unmarked and make-shift crossings in the farm country. Someone needs to get on the town officials to make this stop!

That is terrible I feel so sorry for his family.

Don do not compare this mans life to that of a deer.

people wouldnt believe the stupid things that some people do around trains. They are either ignorant, trying to save time, seeking skills, or just dumb. Than the railroad gets blamed becuase there are no gates at a dirt road. And if the train whistles, the railroad gets blamed for the noise.

If it was your father/brother/husband you wouldn't be making the stupid comments you are making. Who cares if he was a hunter. Imagine what his wife had to tell their 4 year old when she had to explain that daddy was never coming home again. Morons

Is everyone a Vegetarian or Vegan on this thread? If not than save the stupid comments. Nobody knows why he was hit on the tracks but being a hunter does not make him a bad person and deserving of it. I'm sure there are some poeple who think you all are azzholes and would deserve it but that doesn't mean they're right. Give me a break. The man probably had a family.

I was sickened to hear of this accident. All I could think is, Oh no, not again. I lost my nephew three months ago in the train/tractor trailer accident in Silver Springs. I hope John's family knew of the accident before channel 4 mentioned his name on the air. My family did not. I just want to say to his family that I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart breaks for your family and you will all be in my prayers. Hold him close in your heart and he will always be with you. Try to be strong and ignore rude comments that will be posted. There are people who care. May GOd bless you all and grant you strength and comfort.

How do you know it wasn't his property or that of someone he knows?????

A lot of you should be ashamed of your comments. I'm sur ehe is someones father, brother, son, husband. My thoughts are with this man's family. What a tragedy!

I would like to see any of these posters that want to belittle this mans life and cahlk it up for a "animla rights victory" post these things without hiding behind their little shroud of anonymity... A man died ... Explain it to his little girl and wife... you people are the scourge of society and what is wrong with society... you wan to post your crap... give us your address to go with it.

I hope that nothing terrible ever happens to any of your friends or family members and you see comments like these on a post somewhere. No one knows what happened or why so for you to be so rude and hurtful is so wrong. What difference does it make if this man was a hunter? Someone died a horrible death and you should be more respectful of his family. I would think you would want that for your own family.

Wow I can't believe what I'm reading, what have people become to say such hateful things about a lost life...The railroad shouldn't be blamed. Unfortunately John did use poor judgement parking his truck on the tracks. That is something that should never be done. Besides John's family who are suffering people don't realize what impact this tragedy has the engineer and brakeman on the train. This will scar them for the rest of their lives.
