I eat at them all wrote: The Keg is too pricey with the economy being so bad, they still haven't got the food consistently hot and good and served in a timely fashion, and they still don't have any really good waitresses that give a darn about giving customers good service. I just don't feel like patronizing spoiled brat young adults and helping them get richer. I have worked at the keg since right at opening. There have been a few servers come and go if they weren't up to par. The management staff has worked hard to weed them out. I personally give my best attempt at each table to see that their experience is great...and that they will come back, and hopefully want me (and tip me, well). When someone comes in pissed off already, it is hard to please them. Also, for those precious few that think they are the hierarchy of Fulton, get freaking real. there are people that come in scraping money for.their one night a week out and will tip better than those of you with your favorite brand of wine, coach purses, and "oh, I know the owners" bullshit attitudes Others show more appreciation for the fact that we are there working for less than three dollars an hour for ungrateful bastards like you. As for those who come in for fun and to enjoy a night out, I thank you!

Oh and also referring to the pricey menu... the prices go up because food cost for the restaraunt goes up, not because a new price is pulled out of someone's .... anyway... I will admit, there are a few things at the keg( most anywhere you can go for that matter) that could change for the better, but its pretty darn nice for FULTON.

For exactly 2 years, you all have been talking about the Keg. Some like it, some don't. They are still open and going strong from the looks of the cars parked there at noon and at night. Why are you all still writing about the Keg? It's there to stay evidently. Eat there if you want or don't eat there but PLEASE find a new topic. I'm beginning to wonder if the owners are the ones who keep this thread going as publicity.

Personally, I think it's absolutely disgraceful that they have a pregnant bartender working there! Why do the owners allow a PREGNANT girl working in a BAR? It really looks bad for business, and I will definitely not be going back there anymore. Does no one care about her/her unborn baby's health?!

Why will working in a bar hurt the baby anymore than working in an office, teaching school, or being a housewife? Some of you people really amaze me. Why do you care and why would this stop you from eating at the Keg unless you are the competition and can't find anything else to gripe about.
If you want to eat there, go. If you don't want to eat there, stay home.

Yes, because you're constantly surrounded by a cloud of smoke when you work in an office or teach school.. No, I don't think so. She doesn't need to be around all that second hand smoke. Plenty of studies have shown how bad it is for a baby. I'm not just looking for something to gripe about, I'm someone with morals that cares about others' health, especially an unborn baby! A smoke-filled, liquor-flowing environment is no place for a pregnant woman!

I dont think there is smoking at The Keg. And WHAT smoke in an office??? Haven't you heard of smoke-free businesses? Most are now you know.

it's called sarcasm dear. you asked what the difference was from working at a bar and an office...geez. and yes, the keg sure does have smoking in the bar. and people are ALWAYS smoking in there. so yes, it's bad for her.

But I'm wondering why this is any concern of ours. Also, I don't think the Keg could fire this girl because she is pregnant. This is all up to the girl not the Keg.

Federal laws allow her to work as long as she is able and wants to work, the Keg has no say in it (unless they want to lose a court case) As for the smoke in the bar, I'm pretty sure she was aware of this before she was expecting and also pretty sure she knows it now. There are millions of babies, who's mothers smoked and/or "back in the day" worked where smoking was allowed, there are plenty of poisons all around us to pretend that the unborn are not subjected to them on a daily basis is very uninformed . IF you want to avoid the Keg because they follow the labor laws, that is your choice, just as it is this lady's choice to continue to work and pay her bills.

I lived in Fulton during the original Keg days, coming back from Murray State to enjoy the original Pork Chop sandwiches and cold beer. It was more than rough around the edges, less than able to pass any sort of health department inspection, and missing a broom most of the time. But, the re-birth of the Keg and the "sandwich" and everything around it is like night and day. Everything I've ordered and enjoyed at the Keg has been outstanding and low priced.
I'm not surprised to hear all these nattering nabobs picking the place apart; grousing about the good folks working there; questioning the work ethic of the owners; and generally tearing things down from their keyboard comfort zones. This attitude is why 99% of business venture ideas never get off the drawing board. The institution known as the Keg is alive, and from my perspective will thrive, even with all this negativity.
A tip of the hat to Jeff, Alison, and the owner's group; to Hoyt and the great staff; and to Fulton for supporting The Keg. Hope to see you there sometime.
