How do you like the Grand Junction area?

My husband and I are looking for a peaceful community with friendly people, ethical businesses and a mountain view.

The privacy of the deep woods and a lake to paddle around with our canoes.

Fed up with the crime and corruption in Florida.

It's a great place to retire, raise kids, etc. Mild weather, decent schools, decent cost of living, not the density of bigger cities, no traffic problems, pollution etc.

If you are a retired couple, then Junction is a good place to retire to. There are plenty of outdoor recreation activities to do. But if you plan on coming here and finding work, I wouldn't try because it has the small town mentality where they hire friends and family first. Stay away from the Clifton area and Orchard Mesa area. Grand Junction is mainly retired and college-aged people. I hope this helps a little bit with your decision.

Whats wrong with Orchard Mesa?
And I say go somewhere else to retire. We're already overrun with old folks. We don't need anymore horrible drivers around. We have more than our share between the retired, waiting to die community and all the illegals.
