I don't get it. These critics of the Amish must have a covert agenda. Of course the animals are for sale/money, we still have capitalism as a means of exchanging value in the market or do you (critics) prefer communism? Are you/they also against the "Dog Whisperer"? Why not?

In many countries, dog is a food, Check your reality.

Dog auctions are one of the cruelest things that are happening to our four legged citizens. I will help in getting illegalization of dog auctions on the ballot in Ohio. It is past time for this to be illegal.

This is so how these puppy millers breed these poor dogs to death.
When they can't produce anymore they kill them.
It is so brutual and sad. Why oh why can't this be stopped?

As someone involved in Cairn terrier rescue and the proud adopter of 3 puppy mill mommas--I despise the "millers" for their ruthless and vicious treatment of dogs. Even more disgusting are those who profess to be religious. The in-breeding of these creatures create so many genetic problems that get passed on each time they are forced to breed for the almighty dollar. Did I say that I LOATHE these purveyors of evil?

Come on people, have any of you ever interacted with the Amish people? Animals are a means to an end in the real world. Food, transportation, and yes, income. What county fair have you been to that doesn't have cows, chickens, pigs, rabbits, sheep, goats, horses,etc...... Do you really think they go home to a heated plush apartment? there is a reason man is able to think and reason. Try it!!! Amish treat animals for what they are, animals given to them by God for their usefullness to humans.

From the article: "Opponents SAY the breeding dogs are kept in awful conditions and that their physical health is even worse.

But an inspector on site yesterday from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, which licenses dog breeders, said she'd SEEN nothing wrong."

Isn't there a disconnect here? These animal rights activists...have they visited each breeder's site and obtained factual proof against every one of them? Not likely. The government inspector stated she'd seen nothing wrong. As usual, it takes only one viral internet video from anywhere in the country to whip these protesters into a frenzied state of mind. If the HSUS had its way, sales-for-profit of all animals, including livestock, would cease. Their membership suffers from arrested development in some pre-teen fantasyland of rainbows, unicorns and puppy dogs.

Time to wake up and grow up, folks! Can'tcha smell Mama's bacon on the griddle? Served with a side of eggs and some cold milk. Yum.

Yay, Jenn!! I for one, USE my dogs for home security. I USE my cats, to control vermin. I USE horses for pleasure, exercise, transportation, and to teach kids responsibility. I also USE pigs, cows, chickens, and deer to fill my freezer. Anyone who speaks of "animal rights", then goes to McDonald's for a burger is a hypocrite of the lowest order.

The Amish have had puppy mills for years. They breed anything to make money. They aren't about bettering a breed or pay any mind to conformation or temperment.
I work at a newspaper and am disgusted when they place their ads but I can't say anything.
The best we can do is if you want a purebred; buy from a reputable breeder. Do your homework to learn about the breed to see if it fits in with your lifestyle. I have had Afghan Hounds from 1972 until this past month and had wonderful dogs from great breeders.

Your other alternative are the wonderful shelter dog. After my last Afghan died at 14, I just adopted an 8 year old mix breed who is Viszla, Lab and Beagle and he is the best dog I have had.
So join the Humane Society in helping to shut down Amish puppy mills and then encourage your friends and neighbors to get a dog from a great source and help put the Amish out of the dog business.

Put the people in the cage an auction them off. Cover them in fleas and ticks in a cage with no food and dirty water bearly large enough for them to move and leave them for about 72 hours. Maybe then they will stop. There is some thing worng with people that abuse animals~ All they want is your love.

Daily Horoscope for November 26

Gemini

Your eleventh house of friends and associates is activated by the Moon in Aries and it's time to go out and play with your friends. Even the Twins, who have been somewhat reclusive lately, will benefit from socializing tonight. A sense of relief will take hold when you realize that no one really has a better life than you. Sure, it might seem like someone else has a more glamorous existence, but if you could be a fly on the wall in their bedroom, you'd find they have nightmares, too!
