Two Chico girls among youths who allegedly set Redding cat on fire

Full story: Chico Enterprise-Record

Police said two girls from Chico are among five juveniles directly responsible for setting a cat on fire in Redding on July 8. One of the girls, 15, was transferred to Shasta County from Butte County Juvenile Hall on Monday, where she was being held on a charge unrelated to the Redding incident.

Not only should these punks be charged as adults, but their parents should be jailed as well for failing to teach their children any values or morals. People such as these teens are pure evil, and if left unchecked would later become much like the trenchcoat mafia who were responsible for the school shootings at Columbine. They should never be allowed to see the light of day again. It would be fine with me if they were executed and their parents forced to watch.

How about we take them down to the city plaza, bring some cats from the shelter, and set the girls on fire and let the cats watch. Just kidding!!! But WOW! How sick are those girls? You know growing up I heard all kinds of stories about adolescent boys torturing cats(which is wrong too) but when did girls start being so cruel? They need some padded cell time. Seriously.

It's very disheartening that children of such a young age could be so sick and destructive. It's a good thing they are taking them down and hopefully the other girl will be found. Obviously the girl that's incarcerated knows who the other one is....it's only a matter of time before she gets her turn. These types of actions will lead to the same type of behavior towards human beings, so it's a good thing they are being dealt with.

If my daughter did such a thing I would drive her to juvenile hall myself.

This is a horiffic crime and the cruelty is just unimagineable. What is next.... small children? These are evil kids and should be prosicuted to the full extent of the law. It makes Michael Vicks look mild!

They are disgusting, they should suffer the same fate as that poor defensless cat. They should be tried as adults to the full extent, But with the justice system over here who know's they probably get a slap on the wrist. We have no proper system, they pick & choose whatever depends 0n what kind of day they have I think.

Lock 'em up -- lose the key -- better yet, light them on fire. I have NO RESPECT for animal abusers of any kind. Hope they enjoy getting their due someday! No trial -- straight away to jail, and NEVER let them out.

This act makes me sick! All of the juveniles that were involved should be made to suffer the same fate as that poor defenseless cat. They do not deserve to live free in any society. I wonder what kind of people the parents are? I really hope the punishment is a lot more than a slap on the wrist!!!

There is no such thing as the trench coat mafia. It's stereotypes like that that made my High school life a living hell. This incident, like Columbine, is a product of poor parenting. Columbine had a blind eye, hopefully the schools that these girls come from don't develop a blind eye for them, or the next thing that will be set on fire *or shot* is another student.

That is just horrible. Often when people start with torturing animals they graduate to torturing people. And as if Redding didn't have enough dirt bags some of Chico's had to go up there and participate in this mess.

I am happy that these future serial killers are off the street and hope all of them will be caught soon, very soon. And I agree that the parents of these teens should also be charged with something.

Yes, try them as adults and give them the maximum punishment for cruelty to an innocent, trusting, creature. THEN have them sacrifice the next half of their lives doing service work to pay back life for their callous disregard of it. They need to understand the depth of their cruelty and not think that life is so cheap they can hurt another living being for fun. Good thing it's not up to me, I would crucify them.

The girl they have in custody must be a real p.o.s. considering the article said she was already in Butte Co. Juvinelle hall on an unrelated charge. They should all be charged as adults and their names printed in the paper. In Redding, they arrested 2 boys and another girl for this crime. It's very disturbing that 5 kids were all ok with doing this. I'm not a big animal lover, but this is disgusting.

What they did was cruel and wrong in so many ways, but executed? Think before you speak next time.

It is a proven scientific fact that those who torture (This IS Torture) the animal race go on to do the same things to the human race. I can only hope and pray (and write the DA and Judge that hears the case) that they don't get out for a very long time. Don't make them write some "paper" on why this was "wrong" sh*t. Yes I love animals, I believe more than people. Animals don't do crap like this. May all of the scum involved in this horrific deed one day answer to a higher power and rot in HE*L. The only thing that makes me eqully mad is now as a tax payer I have to pay for their three squares and a cot. If anyone reads this knows any of those involved pass them a message - Their worse than pond scum!

Last month after being missing for a week, my cat came home with his feet bleeding. Every one of the tips of his toes, and dew claws, had been cut off. Very cruel. I know who did it, but there is no way to prove it.

Some people are very sick.

Aries

Christmas Eve finds you happy and eager to get the most out of the day. You're in a rather sentimental mood, so if you've got time you'll relish the chance to watch a favourite film, especially if it means you've got to get out the hankies. A friend's kindness or sensitivity will delight you - and make you wonder how you can reciprocate.
