(10-23) 13:23 PDT Fremont --- A lunchtime shooting across from Irvington High School in Fremont left a 21-year-old man dead today, police said.

Investigators do not believe the incident is connected to the school or its students but have locked down the campus as a precaution, authorities said. Robertson High School, a continuation school nearby, released its students to go home shortly after the shooting, police said.

The shooting happened about 12:30 p.m. at a shopping center at 41200 Blacow Road in the city's Irvington district, police Sgt. Chris Mazzone said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, was in a car with several other people near a liquor store in the shopping center when a white or silver Honda Accord, also carrying several people, pulled up alongside, police said.

A man jumped out of the Honda and shot the victim once in the back, possibly with a semiautomatic handgun, then fled, police said. The victim staggered to a doughnut shop several doors down, collapsed and died.

Relatives of the slain man came to scene shortly after the shooting and were crying and hugging each other.

One woman slipped under yellow police tape, and was immediately told by police to stay back.

"That's my nephew, what the hell you talking about?" she yelled back.

what the hell happened to Fremont of all places. What are these youngsters really trying to accomplish in their lives. It's bad enough we have people dying by the thousands -- every day from war, and starvation. These guys that have a chip on their shoulders ought to be sent out to fight with tribes in Africa. I would just like to let all of you that this was not gang related for the idiots that are caught up in the 1940 this is not a black and white issue..a real person was hurt yesterday and our family is grieving..

What the hell was going on over on stevenson and blacow and Omar, the swat was out there blocking streets behind the Arco station and down the Omar street. There was something going on over there. This happened the same day of the shooting at irvington, but around 5-6pm. Does anyone know what that was about. I cant find any news regarding this incident.

i know!! i was driving there yesterday, and a house was all surrounded by cops and a yellow caution string! WTF?

Overnight Police Siege In Fremont Ends In Arrests

(BCN) FREMONT A six-hour siege that began about 6 p.m. Tuesday night in Fremont has resulted in three arrests Wednesday, according to police.

After a fatal shooting in the 41200 block of Blacow Road on Tuesday, police followed leads to 5019 Hutton St. There they found three suspects in the house.

A siege followed that police said included using tear gas to apprehend the three males. Just after midnight, a 17-year-old transient, an 18-year-old Menlo Park resident and an 18-year-old Fremont resident were taken into custody, said police.

The suspects were not charged in the shooting, pending a photo line-up with witnesses today. They were charged for previous infractions, said Fremont police, including violating probation in at least one case.

Police are searching the residence for evidence regarding the shooting. Police have said they will release the identities of the suspects Wednesday.

sorry all I see is the police blotter filling up with suspects who all sound the same a black male in their late teens early 20s.well there arent a proportional amount of blacks to the crime they commit. so that being said the black community that has descended upon fremont lately has created a new racist. until you blacks can learn to raise your children properly don't count on my sympathy. you don't deserve it.

the victim was black IDIOT, the perps were ALL black IDIOT. so 3 out of 4 black people caused problems in this situation,and the victim was on parole,so he must have been a saint.
