Freeport man gets 14-17 years on weapons charge

A Freeport man has been sentenced to serve 14 to 17 years in prison for supplying the illegal gun that killed anti-gang activist Hykiem Coney in 2006.

Unfortunately outlawing guns is the surest way to make sure that the criminals have them. Think of it like drugs - drugs are illegal but people still manage to get them illegally. Guns would be no different.

The gun does not protect you, any more so than a shovel digs a hole. You protect yourself, either by hand, or using some device, like a gun or bat. The gun is an object made of metal, wood and/or plastic. It will not protect you, or attack you.
