Anyone remember me from the other thread?

While many quibble about these types of problems, I decided direct action was needed. I spoke and met with some important people in the town, who have been very helpful and receptive to the concerns of the residents. Believe me when I say this, our police department is doing everything possible to make life better for us in this town. Ultimately, people must take responsibility for their actions.

In weeks leading up to the murder last night there were a series of unrelated incidences that, in my opinion, portended some dark clouds looming over this place (just a gut feeling based on my streets smarts acquired through my youthful years).

And so it has finally happened. Someone was murdered last night in the early morning hours at the Rug Mill.

I was not home at the time of the incident but according to close sources, there was an SUV or Suburban parked in the circular entrance with a body on the sidewalk next to it. There was a lot of blood and some articles of clothing on the concrete near the vehicle. Police arrived very quickly and cordoned off the entire area.

A female was in the hallway crying and mentioned the name of one the victims (which I will not disclose until the police and the media have confirmed who it actually is). I received a call this morning from someone stating another victim was currently hospitalized. This morning someone else stated to me that it was a shooting related incident between males arguing over a female.

Keep in mind that this info is unconfirmed and we need to wait until more info is provided.

This place sucks big time.

FREEHOLD An Asbury Park man with a lengthy criminal history was shot and killed and another man was wounded early Saturday morning in a parking lot opposite the Elks lodge on Throckmorton Street, police said.

Rodney Keys, 39, died of his wounds before his arrival at the hospital, authorities
said.

Another man, also from Asbury Park, was treated for a gunshot related injury and later released from Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor Peter E. Warshaw said.

Police have not released the wounded man's identity or given a motive for the shootings.

Both men were believed to have been at a social event at the Elks before the shooting, police said.

Officers were reponding to a 911 call at the parking lot shortly after 2 a.m. as the
wounded man was driving himself and Keys to the borough police station, Warshaw said.

An autopsy of Keys is scheduled to be performed on Saturday by the Monmouth County Medical Examiner's Office, Warshaw said.

A search of public records shows that Keys was no stranger to police.

He had convictions for drug possession and distribution, armed robbery and aggravated assault, court records show.

In addition, he served a seven-year stint in state prison from 1997 to 2004, the records of the state Department of Corrections show.

The murdered man's name is Rodney Keys(39). He wasn't killed at the Rug Mill. He and another man (unknown) were shot in the parking lot of the Elks on Throckmorton. The other wounded man attempted to drive Rodney to the police station here at the Rug Mill, but instead drove into the circular drive here.....A neighbor woke me up and alerted me to the situation. What I saw was a body laying next to a Suburban, with smashed windows, in the circular drive.....I assumed the incident occured here at the Mill....I was wrong.

The murdered man's body and the car he was driven in were in the cicular (horseshoe)entrance of the Rug Mill until about 5:30 this morning.

I knew the deceased very well, and the other victim. We grew up together. Regardless of his criminal history he was a good person, he would do anything for you. May he rest in peace and my God be with both victims and their families at this time.

OK so Olbermaniac claims that two men were shot in an SUV located at the Throckmorton Elks?

one of the two shooting victims suffered mortal wounds. The surviving victim drove the SUV to the rugmill towers expecting to find the police?

Rather than calling 911, or driving to the Centerstate ER, the injured driver chose to drive to the Rug Mill Towers?

I think more OFFICAL information will be forthcoming rather than anonymous internet hearsay

That's pretty much what the Monmouth County First Assistant Prosecutor says happened, according to the AP Press story. Sounds "offical" to me!

Yes, as stated in the APP link, the shooting did not occur in the front of the Mill. Why they drove to it, instead of the hospital or the police station is conjecture at this moment.

My ears are to the streets. I'll see if I can find out more about the events leading up to the altercation.

Props to the police who took control of the area and maintained the situation effectively.

Further, to the council persons on the board... If you want to reduce some of the trouble in the area, you must address the fact that there has been a pattern of crime in or around that damn Elks lodge. Either tell the proprietor(s) of that establishment to hire security for their events or SHUT THE DUMP DOWN.

Ok, I know I stated I wouldn't conjecture about the circumstances of what led to this tragedy, but I have to respond to the above statement.

The person who posted the info you claim is providing us with "hearsay" lives in the Mill (as do I) and saw the vehicle in the circular entrance, as well as the body on the concrete.

It is true that we need to wait until further info is available but from what I've been hearing on the streets, the person driving the vehicle (who was from Asbury) and was likewise shot, was attempting to get to the police station, however, may have inadvertently pulled into the Mill entrance because they under the impression they could access the station from there; were in shock, delirious, panicked, knew someone there who could help, etc, etc, etc. We don't yet know why.

One thing I can assure you of, is that the poster is a very credible source.

Thanks, guys.

By driving off, even to the Borough PB, the "Victim" has "Tampered" with crime scene evidence.

Any witness cooborating that the shooting was at the Elks? how many bullets were fired? Were all shell casings recovered? What was the wepon used? A "Saturday night special", a 9 mm Browning semi-automatic?

Info concerning shell casings and weapons used would be something the police dept. would have more knowledge about at this point. As far as witnesses at the Elks, I'm sure that info will be forthcoming. I'll keep my ears open and let you guys know if I learn anyhting new.

I guess he is only opposed to "anonymous internet hearsay" when it doesn't come from him.
