Does anyone know or remember what the "Underground Forest" was? A museum or tourist site of some kind. I have seen a postcard of it-a rather unique building on Old 27 just north of town. It's a private residence now (I think). I would appreciate a posting with some information about it.
Thanks.

Are you talking about a white structure, on a small hill, right side as going toward Gaylord?

If so, my husband has said it was the original location of Call of the Wild, now in Gaylord.

Hope this helps.

Mike, glad to help.

Now you have me curious. Maybe someone can fill us in on more of the history.

My 94 yr old grandparents passed away recently, and I was just given a rather strange collectable that has a label on the bottom that reads: "Underground Forest, 3 miles north of Frederick Michigan" It is an odd little teacup set made out of some type of nut- walnuts maybe? I Googled the name of the place and only came up with a few postcard listings myself. The postcards seem to show some sort of trailer-type home built in to the side of a hill that backs to a forest.
That's all I know for now!

can you repost the link for Flickr? I can't find the pix. I just visited this place over the weekend and am curious as heck on its history.
