Dr. LaRavia is the reason this residency was accredited. He had the vision and did all the work to achieve it. He is a force to be reckoned with and he has the support of his patient's, the community and his former emnployees.

I agree. He is one of those rare doctors that really does care about his patients. Not only does he speak the truth he obviously stands up for his beliefs. Amazing how stupid LSU Health Services and the Bogalusa Medical Center must think we are? Read carefully and it is easy to see that they had to hurry and come up with an "excuse" for firing Dr. LaRavia. |

There is also a quote that the clinic was somewhat closed to some patients. The clinic was not seeing enough patients and being properly supervised. Dr. Laravia was not working well with local physicians too.
Nobody has even addressed the fact they cannot build on to the clinic with the old nursing building still standing behind the clinic. The community wants the program to grow but some are trying to move or save this old building will is also hurting the future of this program. By the way, Dr. Laravia is in trouble with the Texas Medical Board with residency training licenses right now. Look it up.

Why was Dr. LaRavia fired?
Folks are talking on the Hard Copy board about Dr. Dennis LaRavia's firing from the Bogalusa LSU Rural Residency Program. Wednesday's Daily News had an editorial about the "outrage." We suspect it had something to do with this formal complaint (about one-third of the way down the page): Dennis A. LaRavia, M.D...... L4514.......... 6/4/07...... Unprofessional conduct; violation of state or federal law; violation of board rule regarding Physician in Training permits. Please note that these are allegations, not yet proven. The matter is set for hearing by the Texas State Office of Administrative Hearings, Texas Medical Board in April 2008 - PDF file of the docket here. See page 37. |

You should investigate a little more before you make assumptions. It only took a few minutes to look up exactly what the "violation" in Texas is about. It only has to do with wording issue of postgraduate and residency training. Dr. Laravia and the other leadership in Texas were named in the violations. Pretty minor compared to the rampant drug abuse that seems to be the norm for most of the doctors around here. But then again if thats the worst people can come up with than its better to allude to "the trouble" that Dr. Laravia is in than to admit that drug abusing doctors are running things in Bogalusa now.

so now WE know the rest of the story
well well well "LAD" if you didnt push your luck again ...... it has only been 5 years and your already being run out of another program. For the same things you did at FMC ........ ''UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT'',''VIOLATION OF BOARD RULES'' WAY TO GO LSU HEALTH CENTER & BOGALUSA MEDICAL CENTER! |
||||
He's also a nutjob. |
||||
|
who was turning away pediatric patients because of their ethnicity, which i guess is ok by the community's standards.

SO No one wants to comment that Dr. LARAVIA was completely cleared in TEXAS? In fact, several members of the Texas Medical Board have been fired and are under indictment. Funny also how how little BFMC girl actually checks out her "facts" but then again most people can not think for them selves or see the truth through all the lies. So I have no doubt, that just like with past allegations and lies from jeoulous people, Dr. LARAVIA will be completely cleared and the truth will be known to all; even those that are blinded by smooth talkers spouting vague and erroneous allegations.

I saw this myself. Not only did we have the above stated concern, he did not take medicaid even though the office was being financed by The Great State of LA with millions of dollars and the medical residents and the program is being greatly funded by some medicaid funds along with state funds. This office is NOT on the list of medicaid providers which is listed by the LA Medicaid office and they did not have a Medicaid provider number. Serving the medicaid and the poor was not their goal. They also would not take indigent cases in their office. |

After looking at the Medicaid provider list.....
I stand corrected. I guess that has changed in the last 6 months or so. However, this was not true a year or so ago. |
