Frankly, if the Cherokees want the mound back, I say let them have it. They will likely do more with it than the town of Franklin has done and lets it sit there and not make it the historical wonder it is. I would imagine the Cherokees will make it really nice and MAYBE even buy up the trashy buildings around it and make a nice park area. It is a beautiful and important part of our regional history. Come on Franklin/Macon County, you paved over a centuries old village to extend the runway at the airport, let's get something right here!!!

I like that the town owns it. If i'm not mistaken, a bunch of school kids raised pennies to buy it a long time ago. The town should keep it and maintain it. I would like to see some interactive learning around it though. Instead of buying a 1.25 million dollar liquor store, the town could buy the properties between the mound and the river and build a really nice park. heck, there is enough land there to build a park and a liquor store and still come out cheaper then buying the 1.25 million store.
