Why is Highland School using the Ash Flat Ballpark all the time? Ash Flat residents cannot ever use the park, since there is always a ballgame going on there. Also, why do they have a sign up, no dogs allowed. I never heard of a park where you could not take your animals. Where else do you have to take them?

I know this is an old post, but I think there is some confusion. The children/teens using the Ash Flat ball park during the Spring and Summer are not participating in school sports. Those are Summer sports leagues and are not affiliated with the school district...anyone from any district whether in public, private, or home schools can participate.

There may be some leagues like that, but I know for a fact the school plays all of their home games there.

There were baseball and softball games on approx. 16 days this spring. The school teams haven't played there for over two weeks. The games being played there now are Summer League baseball and softball.

I know that, but what I said there was high school games being played there in the spring.

I am sure the summer leagues have something to do with the school.

No. The school is not involved in the operation of the summer baseball and softball leagues. Now, there are people who coach at Highland who also coach summer league, but the two are not connected.

It may be but I still do not understand why all of the games are played there. Is Ash Flat the only town with a ballpark? They should not have to pay for the tri county area teams a place to play. I do hope the city is getting some money for this.

Nope, summer ball ends the end of June! But I realy don't see what the big deal would be if they were to play all summer long. It gives the kids something do, and off the streets! I think it's great to see all the kids & families out at the ball park!!........ But don't worry, it's almost over!..... Til next Spring!!

Highland School paid the City of Ash Flat like 10 or 15 thousand dollars to be able to play ball there, the no dogs allowed sign is on the ball field fences. Teams were tired of stepping in dog crap while playing ball....

That is true, but I was told that it costs nearly fifty thousand dollars to keep the park up, so sounds like the school is screwing the City of Ash Flat to mee.

Well considering the School teams only use it during March and April, and most games are away. I think the City is doing pretty good. They don't even mow it until it gets about shin high.

If you don't want the HHS teams playing at the park then ban the little league and Sr Citizen softball teams from playing there.

Thats a good idea. A local summer softball league is what they should do there, instead of the schools using it.
