If you are overdrawing your account on a regular basis then you are living beyond you means and you need to consider changing your lifestyle and spending habits. The banks are not in on anything together, they're having a tough time too. When a bank is allowing your payment to clear even though you don't have the money then you should be thankful. If you had to pay in cash you wouldn't have whatever it was that you were paying for. If you walk into a store to by a coke for 1.99 and only have 1.00 would you expect the cashier to cover the rest until you could pay them?
Thank you first off I do not overdraw on a regular basis...second off, you don't need to worry about how I live and living beyond my means,I have busted my a@@ for everything that I have. Third, you lose a child, and then come on here and tell me about overdrawing an account. It was not done purposfully, but when you are in that state, and something that dramatic happens, mistakes happen!!!! So I think Woodfroest is a great bank, and opinions are like a@@h*les...everybody has one!!!!

I used Woodforests' overdraft protection about 3 times in the past 2 months. I recently had to go on Disablity and I don't know when I will be able to return to work. I am supposed to be paid Bi-Weekly, However, the payments I receive never come according to schedual. But that does not stop the bills. Now, if I don't pay my bills on time, I am charged fees that are much higher than the $34.00 dollars Woodforest charges. So, I use the overdraft protection, pay my bills, and end up ahead by the time my disability payment comes.
IT'S ALL ABOUT MONEY MANAGEMENT PEOPLE!!!
You must remember that every time you use your account to make a purchase and don't have the money in your acount, you will be charged the same fee.. No matter how larg or small the purchase.

THINK BEFORE YOU BUY!!!!

I closed my account after they refused to cash a check on their bank made out to me from someone with an account there. There target demographic is people who owe other banks money and therefore cannot get an account anywhere else. They won't even cash their own checks. What a joke.
Maybe the person did'nt have the money in their account.
Or, someone tryed to pull a fast one.

I bank with 5/3. I think that the min. balance required for savings without a fee is $200.

Farmers Bank is going to charge a service fee on savings account if you balance is less than $1,000. That is outrageous! They are going to get the money one way or another.

Most financial institutions will charge a fee if you cash a check and you are not a customer or a member there. That is very normal. What I don't like that is done (and I don't remember if it's occurs there or not) are finger printing when you cash a check.

If you're thinking of switching banks, DO NOT go to Fifth Third. They charge $8 to cash a check made out by their own account holders to individuals who don't have accounts there. Bet they don't charge the electric company $8 when bank customers make out checks to them.
Personally I keep an account open just so I have somewhere to cash checks. I deposit bill money each payday, write out checks, leave a few $ in the account and deal in cash only otherwise. No DEBIT card. THAT is another way they get you for fees, etc.

It's a second chance bank therefore they have you by the balls once you start banking there. They take people in who are under bad circumstances and make it worse. Thats how they make there money.

I am a new account holder with Woodforest and things have been going wonderful. After a bad and lengthy divorce I found myself on Chexsystems and unable to get a checking occount with a local bank. Woodforest offered me a second chance.

You will experience overdraft fees with any bank, not just Wodforest. After reading some of the posts here it is apparent why many of you are in the trouble you are in. If you handle your account appropiately, you will not bounce checks and be charged fees. Period.

Farmers Bank only charges a service fee on savings accounts if the account goes dormant (12 months of no activity) AND the account has less than $1000.00 in the account. If it goes dormant but has more than $1000.00 you will not be charged. Other services fees would be from not keeping the minimum required balance or exceeding your quarterly withdraw limit. All this info is given to you in disclosures when you first open the account. Might help if you get all the facts before bashing a financial institution.

I have had woodforest for over a year now and they never take to $7.99 monthly fee out at the same time. That being said I always know when the are going to take it out. They always take out thier fee when I have less then $7.99 in my account. They have waited until the 25th on some months and as early as the 5th on others. But out of 14 months that i have had the account I have gone in the negative 8 times because of thier fee. I keep a close eye on my account because I absolutely hate paying $34.00 for a overdraft fee. Its hard in this economy and I live paycheck to paycheck and I think that its bullshit that I am doing everything I can to make ends meet and they just sit back and take from me and my family!

Not a single one of you second chance loser can spell. Thinking about opening an acct there. I did not know that it is a 2nd chance bank. Get an education, learn to spell, and hopefully with a better education you will get a better job and not have to worry about overdrafts. What a bunch of losers. Haha. Thanks for the input. I will not be going there bc I don't want to be in line behind one of you dumba@@es

Daily Horoscope for May 20

Taurus

If a friend has been bugging you recently, you are likely to have a few sharp words with them today. However, least said soonest mended, so don't labour the point or turn them against you. Besides, you have better things to do with your time now, such as taking part in a big gathering of likeminded people or having a long chat with one special person.
