Why in God's name would the news agencies try to call the coroner's office? If they're dead, how much confirmation and added details to you need? Oh, I forgot, they need to report the blood and guts, burned beyond recognition, etc. Forget dignity, "journalists" have none.

I know this comment was more than likely made in jest due to the victims' last name being Riles, however, I am very close friends with the granddaughter of the victims and find this comment to be hurtful. I am sure I will be found petty or overly-sensitive for my post but I really don't care.

My prayers go out to the family. This couple live a very long life together and they died together. Sad that there not here anymore but I bet they would have wanted to die together!!

I guess the ignorant moron that wrote this posting has no idea of what is ahead for the family's and the way the law's are written. Considering the activity that caused this tragedy there MUST be an autopsy to comply with the law. But then again, looking that you wrote this and live in Hinsdale you must be just bored and ignorant.

Why don't all of you forget about all the petty comments and just feel and pray for the families and victims involved in this awful tragedy. My parents live 2 blocks away and my Mom was so shaken up over it saying that it felt like a huge earthquake, you would have thought her own family members were involved in it. Have some sympathy and compassion instead of all these ignorant comments. Thanks.

Story said couple moved in recently,I was told several years ago by a relative who is a fireman after a explosion happen of a house in Chicago that he covered, make sure if you move appliance;s the flexible tubing that connects to your gas line to the appliance make sure you get new ones if you had them for some time because they can spring a leak and the gas can build up and flick a light switch or light a match or a flame from the stove and Wham.

Twelve years ago this November was the explosion in Downers Grove, where I had lived across the street from the home that exploded and killed two people. It is beyond words what you go through when this kind of tragedy happens, your sense of safety is shaken to it's core. My sympathies and prayers go out to the family and to the neighborhood alike.

My husband and I live in Mokena which is right by Frankfort and we heard the explosion. My husband said he even felt our bed move. It was pretty loud and scary. I feel very sad for the families of this couple and my heart goes out to them.

If the close families cared so much, why didn't anyone check with the owners and the victims to assure that the gas lines were safe and the house was up to code ???? Too little, too late.

What a jerk to make a smart a*s*s* remark over a loss of a husband & wife.

I live not even about mile and a half away and I agree with people that said on the news that it sounded like either a bomb or an airplane crashed, scared the s*h*i*t* out of me and shook our house (not a way to be awakened)

My thoughts and prayers not only to the family that lost their loved ones but the people directly impacted by this with all the property damage.

I am sadden by some of the comments left here, people have died, people have lost beloved community members, people have lost their homes.
If you read the news article you were posting about you would have seen that they were not yet sure what happened, the latest news is that it was a back up in the main line and not a problem with the home. The home was in fact checked when the family moved in just a few weeks ago. The families are in no way at fault.
I am the youth minister at Frankfort United Methodist Church ... it seems like you all know what is going on. I would just like you to know that the church is a community center for information and/or support of any kind.
Services will be held for the couple that died in the blast, early this week.
I know some of you are already, but please do keep the frankfort community in your prayers/thoughts ... many members of our church and the greater community have felt the loss of beloved community members and the loss of their homes.

FRANKFORT, Ill.-- An elderly couple is dead after their southwest suburban Frankfort home exploded Saturday morning, NBC 5 reported.

Natural gas may have built up inside the house, Frankfort Police Chief Rob Piscia said. Police and fire officials, the state fire marshal's office and local utility companies were investigating.

I read the article in the Tribune. Apparently, they moved from a two story home into a ranch down the street as they could not climb up and down stairs anymore.

I think what happened is SAD.

Even with a proper home inspection, no guarantees can be made.

I think it's a terrible loss. At least they went together.

May they rest in Peace.

I'm a friend of the family and all of you should be ashamed for saying completely rude things like kaboom and why didnt the familes check the gas lines. you are completely ridiculos.(steve & frank) this is a extremely hard time and a horrible event. im disgusted some of you find amusement in this because all the 30 some direct family members and the very very many friends they had are completely hurt and saddened by this. and nurse ratchet youre right news agencies should not try to contact the cornoner because it is none of their goddamned business and you have no dignity for being so outspoken.

thank you everyone else who is being caring and considerate and praying for the family.

I'm not sure I can ever understand how it would seem like a good idea to spew such bastardly ignorant comments about this accident; they're not called for, let alone amusing. Writing these comments serves no purpose but to upset those of us who feel remotely affected. I'll be the bigger person here to go ahead and say that I hope no one ever talks about your loved ones the way you've decided to disregard mine. Maybe it's about time you grow up.. or if you're not ready for that because you think you're so tough, take a look at the pictures of what remains or go drive around the area and pick up some of my great grandma's recipies that have been scattered for blocks. But either way, keep the names and business of my family out of your mouth if you don't have anything nice worth saying.

But thank you to those of you who do offer your kind and supportive words.

Daily Horoscope for January 7

Sagittarius

If you have any worries or problems today, a close colleague could have the answers you seek. Work will be satisfying, and anything to do with children should be very rewarding today. There could be friction with a relative, but it's nothing serious and things will sort themselves out in due course. Again, you must pay attention to your health, Saggitarius: skin infections are a strong possibility at the moment.
