Great, now if they would just let Martin, Daviess, Pike, Knox, and Dubois counties do the same and move to Eastern Time. Everyone that I have spoke with in these counties are fed up with Central Time. Come on Eastern!!!!

being a Hoosier native abroad and looking at this story, it makes the residents of my home state look like simple idiots.

So, please explain again -- WHY and HOW this time change has actually helped Indiana?!?
Just reading this story has confused me!!!!! What time is it again?

This is rather dumb. I live on the Easter side of the state and a county on the north western side is going to be an hour ahead of me?!
They move two hours ahead as we move one?! This state is just ridiculous now... No one knows what counties participate in "Springing ahead" and now we have one county on its own that will be ahead most counties by an hour and behind other counties by an hour. It's true - you never know what time it is in Indiana. I thought it was horrible that we were made fun of as a state for not being able to read a clock before...at least the residents always knew what time it was!! *augh* |

I just hope that Pulaski County voters remember in the next election that Mitch Daniels and his Republican cohorts created this ungodly mess.

Surprise, surprise! There are people south of the Kankakee river that are capable of looking in the sky to observe Local Appearant Noon, and notice that Indiana belongs in central time zone. Unfortunately they were forced to buckle under to the "big city" Troglodytes that insist on pretending to live on the Atlantic Coastline. Troglodyes then querry (as they sip their grape Koolaid) "I don't understand why we should have sunrise so late in the morning??!!"

Simple. It is time for people to grow up. |

Of course it was. The fact that the people of this community couldn't make a decision as to which time zone to be in was Mitch's fault. The fact that the feds recommended they be Eastern but they screamed "NO" was Mitch's fault. And the fact that they quickly realized their mistake and began (unofficially) observing Eastern time is certainly Mitch's fault. |

No, Pulaski county is currently on Central time, meaning they are one hour behind you. Let's say it's 11:00 where you live now. that mean's it's 10:00 currently in Pulaski County. If we were to switch to DST right now, it'd be 12:00 where you live and since Pulaski County is changing to Eastern time, instead of becoming 11:00 like the rest of the Central time zone, they'll switch to EDT, 12:00, just like you. They won;t be ahead of you, they're just adjusting to be on the same time as you. Make sense? |
are you that dumb? they are currently on central time, 1 hour behind us. on sunday when we jump ahead 1 hour, they move 2, and they will be the same time as those of us in indy and greenfield. you isiots drive me crazy. |
No they won't. You are an hour ahead of them already. As they move two hours, you also move ahead one hour. So now they are on the same time as you. |
It doesn't make sense for us to be on the same time as the east coast...its a long way away!
ok so I'm from Pulaski County, and we have always been on Eastern Time, but it always created problems because Jasper County was Central Time. It's one state and it should all be on the same time.
They were one hour behind you, and now they're moving from Central to Eastern (1 hour jump) plus the DST change (second 1 hour jump). |
They are currently on Central Time and are moving into Eastern Time this year. That means they need to move one hour ahead to catch up with the rest of central Indiana and then "spring forward" like the rest of central Indiana. Simple math, one plus one equals two. |
Does it make sense to be on the same time as El Paso, Texas? They are on central time. |

I just wanted to mention that I am 24 and I grew up in Southeastern IN. I lived on "West Co. Line Rd." and for half of the year, it was 8 on the left side of the road and 9 on the right. Milan all the way to Chicago was on "slow" time and we were on "fast time".(obviously, the other half of the year we were all on the same time). Then a year ago, that all changed and now I can't seem to meet anyone that doesn't have an opinion on this daylight saving time issue. I dealt with it, just like these people in this article in Pulaski County, for over 22 years. Most of the people in this state have no clue about anything other than what they deal with in their own "little" world. People need to get out, enjoy change, experience new things (different things), and just stop complaining. We as a society CANNOT please everyone. Thanks for the time and opportunity to write.
