Review: ACS Assessment & Treatment - Charlene Kushler PHD

Mrs. Kushler doesn't deserve to be called a Doctor. If she didn't have court appointed cases, she probably wouldn't have any at all. This is evident in her blatant lack of concern for updating her business profile on the internet, her Brighton Office moved some time ago and she's failed to update that information even though it's extremely easy to a concerned business person would make sure happened. That and the fact that she does not take insurance assures me that if it wasn't for the courts she wouldn't have any business at all. She often oversteps her bounds as a counselor and likes to bully clients into submitting to her warped view of reallity by threatening forced clients with legal repercussions or the court. So, if you don't agree 100% with her or challenge her watch out. She convienently forgets things on the stand or twists statements made to her. Worthless...I definitely do not recommend her.

Don't even consider her. She is the worst psychologist I've ever encountered. She threatens and bullies clients, there are complaints filed against her license and she is a complete quake. If the court suggests her, adamently object and find a new counsler.

I would have to completely disagree with the prior comments made. I was a fortunate recipient of Dr. Kushler's services some time ago and it changed my life. I am a much happier, adjusted and emotionally healthy individual because of her. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is serious about wanting change and a brighter future.

I can see why the previous comments would be left anonymously. But, why would a proud supporter leave a positive comment as anonymous? A comment that only contains no information on the help given and contains generic jargon right out an ad for perfect mental health help.

Guess the Doctor or her friends and relatives think they should make up some good things to counter the honest bad opinions.

It's always comforting to see people write reviews of themselves on these sites. Kushler has to write her own positive reviews because she can't get good reviews any other way. Again, run as fast and as far away from her as you can. She is toxic and an extremely unhealthy, unstable human being herself. How she can make claims to help anyone with their mental health is comical. She needs to focus on her own mental health before she can dream of helping anyone else.

Why didn't you contact the Attorney General's office?

I completely agree with all of the negative comments about "DR" Charlene Kushler. She is known in Livingston County as a Court Whore! I have had to deal with this woman going back and forth and not once staying consistent with anything that her and I talk about. She will tell me one thing how it will be for my children and then when I go in and see her personally it all changes. I am not sure why it is so hard for her to remember things that are discussed on the phone. Maybe she has a drinking problem, or too many pills?
She absolutely does not look out for the best interest in children. There is no consistency with her so it just screws up family situations even more than they already are. She acts like she is the judge and has all the power to do whatever she wants. She will let you know that you will lose custody of your kids over something that is absolutely ridiculous. There needs to be a petition started in Livingston County to get rid of this woman. I have proof of all of her inconsistencies and would love to take it to court and show a judge how she is messing with children's lives.

My daughter and I have been seeing a counselor for a year now and the opposing party as well as the referee think that Dr. Kushler should have the final say with her one session. Can anyone tell me if reports of Dr. Kushlers negative treatments have been reported anywhere so I can verify that we do not choose her as a counselor?

Stay as far away from her as you can. Ask for anyone other than Kushler. I know complaints have been filed against her license for removing children from prescription medication, even though she is not an MD, by threatening the mother with loss of custody if she did not comply or if she complained. She threatened his medical doctor that she would have the other Dr. permanently removed from ALL the childs care if he didn't prescribe antipsychotic medication for the young child, that the MD didn't feel the child needed. After being forced to change the meds a psychiatrist got involved and backed up the MD's diagnosis and treatment of the child. The poor kid, meanwhile, was switched back and forth of several strong meds and ended up on EXACTLY the SAME meds he was on to start with. But he had to endure several nasty side effectsfrom being switched all around. She doesn't know what the hell she's doing, she lies under oath and bullies people to get her way. When treatment doesn't go as planned she threatens and bullies everyone involved. She tried to force another mother, who was scared of her ex because he had several domestic violence convictions for BEATING her, to supervise visitation with the ex because Kushler wanted the little girl to see her parents "get along"....The woman had a restraining order against this man for protection because of his violence and Kushler threatened her with loss of custody if she didn't comply... Luckily the GAL stepped in and did not make this poor girl jeopardize her safety but she was angry at the mother for going to the GAL. Parents of Kushler victims...we need to sign a petition for sure to have this bat crazy woman banned from hurting another child in Livingston County!! Concerned Parents should do everything in your power to have someone else ANYONE else, handle your case and protect your kids. Kushler will endanger them and mess with their heads!!

I agree with all the above negative comments. The parents I've spoken to in her waiting room seem to all agree that she's unstable and confused. At first I thought it was just us but clearlyit's not. She forgets everything, lied under oath several times, luckily my attorney caught her on the stand. After much struggle and confusion, we agreed to have her removed from our case. We, to agree on very little but we both saw she was clearly unstable and not in our son's best interest. Use another psychologist.

Dr. Kushler was assigned by the Friend of the Court to do a family assessment for a custody case. She is completely biased and everything that I told her, she took out of context! She should be replaced by someone that is more compassionate and not biased!She does more harm than she does good!

I have to say I had great success with her. My instance was not court appointed. Mine was over dealing with an untimely loss of a brother. My MD recommended her.

I am a former patient of Dr. Kushler and I have no complaints whatsoever. She was both caring and helpful as well as direct and truthful. The advice and strategic methods she gave were very helpful for me and my family. I have referred friends to her throughout the years.
I believe that the people commenting on being "forced legally to see her" are extremely biased. Dr. Kushler deals with both court cases as well as families within the community, like my own, that are seeking counseling and guidance.
The fact that she is referred from, and respected by, the court leads me to believe that she does a good job.
I agree with the above comment, most of the previous rantings sounds like the same person. The court trusts her to make final decisions for a reason, shes been in practice for years and has successful outcomes. If you are this unhappy with her, odds are she didn't favor your side. After reading these posts, it was most likely for good reason.

Sad as it is-this it true. She has been the worst thing that every happened to my son and I! She does say one thing and then turns around and says another. She is threatening to take my son away AGAIN! We have been doing this for 1 1/2 years and it is always the threat! I am sad for all of the children and families that have to deal with her. KEEP AWAY and do not agree to have her in any part of your life. I would also love to sign that petition!! Get it going!!

and file an allegation of misconduct against her. This is the only way to protect families and children affected by her and to prevent future families from dealing with her craziness. It's a simple form to complete and the more people the report her abuses, the more interest the State will take in punishing her for her abuses of power. Good Luck evryone! Let's get this lunatic away from our kids for good!

For people who know the case and know the person, it's pretty obvious that it's the same person posting negative comments. It's easy to post from different computers at work, home, friend's houses, wherever, and everyone knows that. I have been following this forum for a long time. I wasn't going to post on here, but to have this person continually post comments about Dr. Kushler just because Dr. Kushler didn't side with that person isn't right. Dr. Kushler is awesome and if you need someone to really get down to the root of the problem, she is who you need.
