Road upkeep may lead to higher taxes
“That leaves us with few options.”
The Washington Legislature has given cities and counties the go-ahead to raise car tab fees, and Spokane County and the cities of Spokane and Spokane Valley may take full advantage. via KXLY-TV Spokane

With Bush refusing Govenors requests to allocate funds for infrastructure in States, how else are we going to raise the funds, fairly, to maintain our roads? Property tax is not fair, many people who drive don't own property. Gas is already priced and taxed so high you can hardly afford it. So what other method to raise money from the people who use the roads would you suggest? Perhaps an audit of the process is in order? Are there wasteful practices going on? Do asphalt companies bid for the jobs-creating competition and lower prices? I don't like the idea of higher car tabs, but until someone comes up with a different yet fair source of funding it seems like the only thing to do.

reduce the size of our state government, stop wastefull social programs and benefits, competitive bidding on all services by the state (including roads). Keep raising our taxes and fees, increase the regulation on our business and there will not be much need or ability to fix the roads as we will all be in idaho etc..

We need to stop helping other contries and help our own first. That's the only way. Why do we want to look good to the world when we look like $#... inside?
I hope our next President can take care of this lovely place. |
