As a close neighbor, it is sad that the animal died, but right in the middle of Fountaintown is no place for a "zoo". These animals need room to exercise, let alone having to deal with the smell of all the other animals when the wind is blowing just the right direction. Too bad for the girls who are being blamed for letting it out ~ These are nice girls who are getting bad press.

No one was hurt? The kangaroo may be a "thing" as opposed to a "one", but it was obviously hurt. Poor thing. I don't think it is right to allow people to own exotic animals.
Why?

Is it right to own non-exotic animals?

This is very sad. Kangaroos have always been my favorite animals and it's never good when an animal dies, especially one you already had a lot of sympathy for to begin with. If I was that kangaroo's owner, I would sue the teenage girls' families and the Hancock County Animal Control. There is no excuse for this.

Don't let it bother you. All that matters is others around you who know you know the truth as well as yourself. The owner was the one responsible for the care and well fair of his animals. He should have made sure they could not escape. They are wild, powerful animals and could have seriously hurt or killed someone.

DID THE ANIMAL CONTROL MANAGMENT CALL A
MAJOR ZOO SUCH AS SAN FRANCISCO OR CALL ANY AUSTRALIAN ZOO OFFICIALS TO SECURE THE CORRECT INFORMATION RE THE CAPTURE OF THE ROO; IF NOT, THEN PERHAPS ONE OF THOSE ENTITYS SHOULD HAVE BEEN CONTACTED. DID THE BIRD THAT BELONGS TO THE WOMAN GET RETURNED BY THE EMPLOYEE OF THE CENTURY THAT MS. ELLIOT AND THE MAYOR ESTEEM SO HIGHLY.....

I agree. I feel terrible this kangaroo died. I also know these girls. They are nice, young girls. I'm not saying they are guilty or innocent I wasn't there. But why haven't they been given an opportunity to speak? Why are we so quick to say 'oh it was those girls' when not one eyewitness has come forward. Also, I have heard that they were 'trespassing'. I have never seen a no trepassing sign, and it is widely known that anyone is welcome to go back and have a look. A lot of people go there to look at the animals.

(I haven't decided yet if "our borders" are the city, county, state, or street.)

When in doubt.....SUE EVERYBODY!!(I'm kidding, while Heather appears serious).

The owner should be content that they tried to save the animal. And even if the girls did open the gate, it shouldn't have been so easy to do so when the owner clearly allows unsupervised people to be near his animals. Maybe keep the keys in a safe place!!
