Poor Skippy. 'Roos need room to roam. Being locked up in a cage could not have been a particularly good life for the kangaroo. Personally, I would love to have seen him bounding about the countryside. In Australia, kangaroos run free and yes, sometimes there are collisions with automobiles. I think hey should have just let him run around on his own, and leave it up to the owner to reclaim him, if possible.

No one was hurt? The kangaroo may be a "thing" as opposed to a "one", but it was obviously hurt. Poor thing. I don't think it is right to allow people to own exotic animals.

Did widdew Tommy get his feewings hurt? Mommy will get you some ice cweam so you can feel bettew.

Sounds like everybody did the best they could under a highly unusual situation, Tommy. According to the owner, roos tend to murder their own babies unders stress. If that's not enough, without a tranquilizer, they just collapse. Better that a human encounter the animal coming through the windshield at 60 miles per hour or so than a kangaroo die after everything in the world was done to save it.

I can tell you for a FACT the two girls that are being accused of letting the kangaroo out didn't do it. But no one wants to believe them. They are the ones that seen the kangaroo out and went to the owners and told them. They had to knock on two different doors to get the owners to even answer so they could tell them it was out. The owners didn't see the girls open the gate and they haven't talked to the girls since this incident happened and therefore, how and why are they accusing them??? The girls are being wrongly accused for something they didnt' do. I'm sure the next time one of their sheep, goats or peacocks are out, like they are frequently, NO ONE in Fountaintown is going to give a care. Who would want to get involved after seeing what these girls are going through??

If you are going to have an exotic animal as a "pet", you are going to have to face the consequences of what may happen when it escapes. Our area officers are not, and should not be trained on how to deal with every animal on the planet just because a few people think they must keep them as pets.

So, since the girls are being accused of letting the kangaroo out, does that mean the owners actually killed the kangaroo themselves?? No one saw the girls let it out and the owners were the only ones around when the kangaroo died. Let's give the owners the same trial the girls are getting!!!

Clearly something happened with the tranquilizer. Thomas, I'll be blunt. Quit your whining. Sure it's a loss a big loss to the owner but clearly the animal was saved and that's all that matters. If the kangaroo died from unknown causes then so what.

I can tell you for a FACT the two girls told me they let skippy out...they were playing hidin' go seek and wanted to hide in the pouch from the other neighbor kids...the kangaroo then bound for the door and hopped the hell outta there...

I fully agree with you! The owners are ultimately responsible for the well-being and security of their pets.

the two teen girls that let him loose should be held responsible for the animals death so they realize what their games cost.

Did you see them open the gate?? No, you didn't. Neither did the kangaroo's owner. So, you tell me how they know the girls opened the gate??

The girls DIDN'T let him out!! The owner was asked yesterday why he was accusing them of letting the kangaroo out and he said "well, if they didn't let him out, who did??" Maybe one of the owners forgot to lock the gate when they fed him. Also, when asked how they would have gotten a key that should have been put up so no one but the owners could get to it, the owner answered that the key was either in the lock or on top of the cage above the lock. If the kangaroo had been a tiger or a lion, would it still be okay to leave a key in the lock or right above it??? There are several neighboorhood children and adults in and out of the "Fountaintown Zoo" every week. How irresponsible to leave a key where ANYONE could find it!! You have never heard anything about the girls trespassing have you?? NO, because they were told they were welcome to come back there at any time. The owners are very well aware that people come and go through there every day!! The owners are just afraid to admit they might have left the gate unlocked because it sounds very irresponsible. Blame the girls, it sounds better!
