Fireworks display overwhelms police

A private country club's 100th birthday celebration held in San Mateo Saturday night did more than just thrill its members with a dazzling fireworks show, it also startled neighbors who then flooded San Mateo police dispatchers with so many calls they essentially became overwhelmed.

It was a great show. I watched it from my house a mile away. Why did so many people call the police about a fireworks display?
