Everyone please share your favorite memories of the Fortville police, and especially of officer Fox!

How about we post how stupid some of the fortucky residents are that keep breaking the law and getting arrested, then come on a forum and blame the cops.

No kidding! Favorite memories? Are you stupid or what. Obviously if you HAD memories of the fortville police, you were arrested or in trouble for breaking the law. DUMBA$$
I agree! What a bunch of worthless cowards. Take responsibility for your stupid selves and your crimes! Don't blame the police. My hat goes off to the Fortville PD. You all risk your lives everyday to protect us. Im thankful to have such an active police department where I live. |

Agreed! |

That may be the case for some, but you cannot make that statement for every one of the complaints. There does appear to be some valid ones posted. How many complaints are there for Matt Fox when he was with Ingalls? Even if 1% is true then that would represent a significant number of people and also a problem with that person. |

You reply like FPD is out in the thick of stuff. They are "risking" their lives writing tickets and investigating suspicious vehicles. Occasionally a domestic disturbance. Come on, risking their lives? |
My favorite memory is of a FPD charger slowly driving thru my neighborhood. The passenger window was down just far enough to see Goldstein's face. He was giving me the "stink eye" like he was hard. I still wonder who was driving the vehicle and allowing goldstein to display such hardness to the community.

Don't be too assumptive. There is always an element of danger. I wouldn't have wanted to approach a house where some nut had just fled after punching a woman in the face and discharging an assault rifle in her driveway...but I saw them do it. This type of occurence might be rare, but there is always a realistic chance it will happen. I doubt that you have any idea what a typical day for them looks like. |
I just read the police runs in the paper. Everybody runs some type of risk just leaving their home, I perceive FPD as being the minor league of police departments. They hope to one day move up to the majors, but for now they'll just write tickets and such. I don't see any SWAT teams hanging out in fortville, and if there was , it would be another department with the trained officers capable of such. Most guya in FPD move on to bigger departments as we've seen in the past. Their job is what Barney did in Mayberry, not SWAT or CSI. |
AMEN!! |
no more assumptive than this statement "What a bunch of worthless cowards. Take responsibility for your stupid selves and your crimes! Don't blame the police." Its as if the young FPD officers on the department don't make mistakes. They do not have the experience of larger departments. They are mostly young kids trying to prove themselves with cocky attitudes. The real veterans could care less and don't come across like Dirty Harry giving out tickets. I doubt that you have any idea what a typical day for them really is either. |

Inane. Even small towns need police departments. Your seeing them as "minor league" does not take away from that, and you are still being too assumptive. By using your logic, they could critique you for being minor or low-level in your job...and you would tell them they have no idea what they are talking about, they have not walked in your shoes...and you would be correct. It's all relative. |

There are a lot of people on the forums throwing out unsubstantiated, rambling complaints amounting to nothing more than wanting to be able to drink and drive. However, I did not write that statement so I need not defend it. I assume that's where it came from. I don't know all of the officers, or have had direct contact with them...the ones I have interacted with have been very pleasant, and I have to largely go on my own experience. I'm sure none of them are perfect. You're right, I don't, and I never claimed as such. I wouldn't make sweeping statements and judgements about what they have to deal with, or not deal with without such knowledge. |

I was told that the reason I received a $50.00 ticket is because Jeff Ratliff had told the Police Dept to start enforcing ordinances. First off, isn't it the job of the police department to enforce all laws? Secondly, why would Mr Ratliff have to tell the police to do there job, shouldn't they be doing that already?
Initially I was upset at Mr Ratliff, but that was before I learned more about what was really going on. Apparently, Mr Ratliff had discovered Ben Kiphart, our chief of police, illegally burning (BREAKING THE LAW) and called him out at a public meeting. I was not at the meeting, but according to those who were, Kiphart claimed he was cooking hot dogs yet Mr Ratliff claimed it was not on his video, I guess that means he's still videotaping. I am upset because I received an ordinance violation and was forced to pay a fine, yet our chief of police Ben Kiphart can violate an ordinance and no ticket will be issued and no fine will be paid. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the police in this town are above the law. The police violate the same laws they enforce but yet no ticket will be issued and no fine will be paid. How can I respect a police department that opperates this way. Mr Kiphart, you need to do us all a favor and resign. You are no better than the last chief we had. |

Get the point! not everyone being pulled over or questioned multiple times are committing a crime, hince harrasment. Oh and I would hardly say the Fortville police are risking thier lives on a daily bases more like maybe one a year. If they such great cops go help clean up indy or gary. |
They are not perfect and when one makes a mistake and the citizen complains about them, the citizen is a drunken criminal without an argument. |

Often they are, by their own admission. |

Wow another idiot on here trying to make a statement!! you guys are climing out of the walls in Fortville. Get your facts straight before typing away and crying about recieving a ticket because you broke the law. If you had been to the town meetings or talked to more then 2 people about what Kiphart did you would have learned that Jeff wanted the police to start issuing more citations to the citizens because he felt Kiphart had broken a town ordinance himself. In which at that time Kiphart paid a fine of 50.00 for having a fire in town. So next time you start typing wipe your tears off your face and get Ratliff's nutz out of your mouth you big baby. BOOOOO HOOOO!!!!! |

Fox, is that you? |
