The number off layoffs will probably coincide with fleet size reductions. If AMR lets go of 20% of its fleet, well then 20% of its employees will be let go. Whatever the number is it will probably be in the thousands of employees. I don't know what kind of Kool-Aid Prost is drinking but he better get ahold of something because the ride won't be fun for anyone with less than 20 years time. Oh and here is a little info I found in an article. The number of job cuts in the US airline industry were more than 44,000 workers in 2005. In 2003, airlines cut more than 57,000 jobs, and in 2001 they cut a record of nearly 100,000.

But unless you are familiar with the contracts we have and have seen what the compnay has asked for , you are in no position to comment. To sum it up, the company wants everything. The unions do have the power to talk. We will get some things back. The question is how much. The company is selling a car, or anything for that matter. You always ask for more than you expect to get,, so that when the talking is done you get close to what you really wanted. The way you talk about BK is that what the company wants they get. You may be interested in the long list of creditors who beg to differ. And why to the sides need attorneys if this whole thing is so cut and dry?
